Nala's New Life Rescue A 501(c)3 nonprofit in Palm City, FL animal rescue. WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTERS AND MONETARY DONATIONS!

Nala was a life long companion and friend whose brave fight against bone cancer inspired me to re-name my rescue in honor of her. Nala's New Life Rescue has been saving dogs for years who have no other hope. We have a true "no kill policy" and save dogs who need rescued regardless of age, breed or health issues. We specialize in saving unwanted dogs (and cats) from kill shelters all over Florida w

ho otherwise would be euthanized or gassed, Nala's New Life Rescue pays to pull the dogs to safety, cover all medical and transportation expenses and provides a safe foster home or boarding facility until a foster or forever home is approved. All of our animals have a full veterinary examination, vaccinations and are spayed or neutered. We care for them until they are emotionally and or physically healed or a home becomes available. Nala’s New Life Rescue has saved and placed over 150 dogs in new homes in 2016. Nala's New Life Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Congratulations to Wiggles on her adoption! This lovable girl was a long-time resident of Okeechobee Animal Control due to being 6 years old and heartworm-positive. She could not go on transport and she had given up hope of being rescued when Barbi just put her in her car one day after seeing her sadness. After enduring months of heartworm treatment, Wiggles finally got a negative heartworm test today and was officially adopted by Mike and Erica. Pictured here with Dr Rich, Creatures Animal Hospital, who took care of Wiggles during her treatment and Mike. Wiggles is very happy to be part of a family. Everyone at the ranch loved her and we are all so delighted for Wiggles.

We are happy to announce a very special adoption. Congratulations to Belle on her adoption! This sweet girl has been at Nala's ranch for some time and has become a favorite due to her amazing personality and ball-catching skills. She brought joy to everyone who met her and now she is in her forever home with a brand new house and huge fenced yard. Belle was originally rescued from Okeechobee Animal Control. Many thanks to Carol for fostering and now adopting Belle, we wish them many years of happiness. We love you Belle!

We also rescue and transport cats to Northen States Rescues to save their lives as there are never enough adopters here for all the cats, and in particular the adult cats.
On last operation, we got a big surprise and we are so glad this cat came in. Here is what happened: the cats were brought first to All Creatures Animal Hospital, straight from the Okeechobee shelter. When Dr. Rich took OREO out of the crate, it was obvious he had a severely broken leg, it was just hanging there
Oreo needs your help. This handsome, lovable cat is one of the nicest cats we have ever rescued. He is so brave and since he was a stray we have no idea how long this poor guy lived with this broken leg. We knew he needed help so we took him to Dr. Hanson, (The same surgeon who performed a very successful surgery on our dog Rose). Dr Hanson looked at him and agreed to perform the surgery and we need to raise $2,000 to give Oreo a chance at a pain-free life. Oreo is only 3 years old and is a perfect companion so once his leg is healed we will find him the best home. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help Oreo.
Please donate on Facebook or on our website www.nalasrescue.org to help this sweet boy get his surgery and a chance at a pain-free life.
We are a 501 (c)3 charity organization and all donations are tax-deductible. You will receive a tax deduction certificate instantly upon donation.
And Thank you all, every dollar counts when it comes to save animal's lives

Update on the plea for 2 weeks of foster homes to save the lives of 3 Okeechobee dogs.
First of all, THANK YOU, we rapidly received 7 offers, after a full day on the phone and 3 drops out, we still had 4 families willing to foster, this is outstanding and we are so grateful
But it's never that simple! First the best news is we were granted 6 spots on the end of August transport instead of 3, so we can save 3 more lives. This is wonderful and a big scramble!
5 dogs arrived from Okeechobee, the 3 you saw, a little shepherd mix and a sweet little wire hair terrier. 2 more are coming soon. Yes, that is 7
The adorable little white dog most likely won't make it to transport as we found out he has a severe breathing issue that is being investigated right now. See Video below. We are hoping for answers at the beginning of the week and praying it is nothing huge. He is currently in foster with Laura who is taking great care of him.
Maureen is fostering the little brown dog, and Debra is fostering the 4th dog, the shepherd mix. Sandy is on her way right now to take the black dog home.
Sorry, it's easy to get lost in that.
Bottom line, we need 2 more foster homes. We don't know if the dogs are housebroken or not, cat friendly or not, we only know they are fully vaccinated, on flea and tick prevention, and friendly with people and other dogs.

Congratulations to Lily on her adoption! This happy girl is already loving her new family and was adopted shortly after being transported to Darbster Rescue in New Hampshire. She was rescued by Nalas from Okeechobee Animal Control and we are honored to be part of her journey to have a second chance at life.

Look at her, she is so busy celebrating her new family, she won't even look at the camera. Happy life sweet lily

LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION: As many of you know, Nala's New Life Rescue has been dedicated for many years to saving dogs and cats from Okeechobee Animal Control. We currently also transport hundreds of dogs and cats to our partner rescues in the Northeast to save their lives and they all get adopted quickly.

The shelter is currently going thru another crisis - too many animals. This small, rural shelter with no A/C received over 200 animals in the month of July. They had 85 dogs in a shelter that has 38 kennels. Most of the dogs that come to the shelter are owner surrenders. Today they received over 20 dogs into the shelter in one day.

The next transport for dogs is in a little over 2 weeks - August 31 to Darbster in NH. But Nala's kennels are completely full and these 3 dogs cannot stay at the shelter until the next transport. Can anyone open their heart and home to one of these small/medium sized dogs for 2 weeks? They all have vaccines and if not spayed/neutered, Nala's will take care of that. The dogs are required to be dog and people friendly in order to be transported so these dogs have been in play groups with other dogs.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can give these dogs a safe home while waiting for transport so they can have a second chance at life.
Please contact us, and if you have never fostered or adopted from us before, please fill out an application on our website at www.nalasrescue.org. Please use the adoption application and write: "2 WEEKS FOSTER TO SAVE A LIFE" on the first line.
Remember, your high school student can earn Volunteer hours while fostering.

Barbi, our director just sent this post: 'Congratulations to Rose on her adoption! We rescue many, many dogs but sometimes there is a dog whose determination is truly unforgettable. This is the story of Rose, a beautiful, young girl who had a severely broken leg and she was going to be euthanized at a shelter unless Nala's could take her. We knew saving Rose would be a huge financial burden on our rescue but we took a chance that we could raise money to help her, which, thanks to many of our loyal donors, we were able to do. After going through major surgery which included Rose having an exterior fixation device, this brave girl began months of rehabilitation. Rose was confined to a crate except for short walks outside a few times daily. She endured her situation like a champ and was a perfect patient as she took great care of her fragile leg.

It truly takes a village to save a dog like Rose and there is a special person we need to thank. Our volunteer Marie fostered Rose in her home and basically gave up her normal life for 2 months to help Rose heal, taking her to vet appointments a couple times a week, fighting infections, changing bandages and keeping Rose comfortable. Her dedication to this special dog is very much appreciated and Rose could not have done this without Marie. Just getting Rose into the car with her apparatus was a challenge. We would also like to thank her surgeon Dr. Steve Hanson whose skill and experience repaired Rose's leg and today she is so perfect you cannot even tell which leg was broken. And many thanks to our volunteer Carol (who adopted Sebastian and Sadie) filled in to foster Rose when Marie had to go out of town.

We are thankful to her new family, Linda and Chad for welcoming Rose into their home. Rose now has a sister dog named Annie and they are best friends. They run all day in a beautiful fenced yard and take naps together on the couch. We could not have wished for a better home for this special girl. We hope Rose and her new family enjoy many years together. We love you Rose!

We currently have several dogs who would benefit greatly from living in a foster family while they undergo medical treatment. Please message us if you can help

If you have a soft spot for seniors, please consider fostering or adopting Brittany. She has lots to offer and she is only 6 years old but desperate to live in a loving home instead of the kennels.
Most of these pictures were taken in March, she was lucky enough to spend a month with one of our winter residents and she loved every minute of it. Please consider Miss Brittany as your new companion.

Do you remember this dramatic rescue we did on Valentine's Day this year?
Nita came to our rescue and gave birth to 13 puppies the same day. She also had a major intestinal impaction after trying to survive by eating old tires and dirt.
She has fully recovered now and would love to find a forever home. She is the gentlest dog ever, wonderful with all humans and dogs.
So is her sweet puppy Scooter, who needed time to learn good manners from Mom. You see, Scooters was born blind so learning took a little more time but we are proud to say that thanks to his doggie Mom and his wonderful Foster family, he has overcome most obstacles and is ready for a lovely life as a family dog.
Please come and meet both of them tomorrow at our adoption event. From 9.30 am to 11 am at PET SUPERMARKET, STUART, FL 2535 SE Federal Hwy.
Even if you are not ready to adopt yet, we'd love to see you around.

You all remember Scoobs from our post on June 23, right? He was the severely starved and neglected, but sweet boy we rescued on a whim from Okeechobee. He had some unexpected medical issues that we needed help with and many of you came through for him with generous donations! Thank you so much!!! He’s now healthy, a good weight, and ready to join a lucky family!

Scoobs is 1 ½-2 years old and now weighs 54 pounds. This amazing boy is gentle and loves everybody he meets… men, women, kids, other dogs, even kitties! He’s housebroken, rides great in the car, is good on a leash, and is very responsive to training. He is bouncy and playful but also loves to just lounge by your side! And he doesn’t chase squirrels or lizards in the yard! Don’t ask Scoobs to be a guard dog however, he’d let any stranger walk into the house, give them a lick, and show them his most prized squeaky toy!

Everyone who meets Scoobs falls in love with him… he is truly a wonderful dog who has overcome the worst of circumstances. He deserves a perfect home where will be loved, played with, and taken care of for the rest of his life! Are you that perfect home? If not, share him with your friends, co-workers and family. If so, fill out an application on our website www.nalasrescue.org and let’s get him home!!!

Athena is a very sweet and loving girl, super good with other dogs and all people. She is truly a gentle soul. Unfortunately, life has not been too good to her so far, she was neglected and is heartworm positive. This is NOT contagious between dogs (HW disease is transmitted exclusively through mosquito bites)
Nala's New Life Rescue will take care of her treatment but we are looking for a FOSTER FAMILY for the next 2 months so she can be more comfortable while she gets through the medication.
She is 2-3 years old and weighs about 45 lbs.
A fenced yard would be easier, but she walks decently on a leash
Would you be willing to help sweet Athena?
Please message us or even better, apply on our website: www.nalasrescue.org
We are using the same application for foster and adopt, please just write on top Foster Athena

We would like you to introduce Graham, a lovable 2 year old male mixed breed who will make a wonderful companion for a lucky person. Graham loves to play soccer with his ball, he loves being squirted with the water hose and loves cuddling and getting belly rubs. This gentle boy was rescued from Okeechobee Animal Control and has been patiently waiting for his forever home. Graham weighs 48 pounds and is housebroken. He would do best as an only dog as he enjoys being the center of attention and he will steal your heart with his amazing personality.

So hot! The AC units in the kennels are running really hard to keep up with the temperatures and the small unit in our backup kennel (known as the Peach kennel) gave up this morning. It was an older donated unit installed last year and it served us well but we would like to replace it now with an energy-efficient unit and these on the picture are working really well for a budget price.
Please help us with a donation. On Facebook or on our website at www.nalasrescue.org, everything helps.
The backup kennel is completely full of course, just like any other spot in our rescue, and we really need this today.
Thank you so much for your help, it is a rough summer in rescue!

UPDATE: GIANT THANK YOU Friends, we did it. There is a brand new AC window unit cooling off the Peach Kennel tonight. The dogs are very happy and so are we. Thank you so much

Adoption Process and fees

When you first contact us to adopt a dog, you will be asked to fill out and submit an application on our website at nalasrescue.org/adoption-application

The application will be reviewed by the members of our adoption committee to ensure that the family will be able to match the dog or cat’s needs, and that we can move forward to a safe and happy adoption. The first thing we do after receiving an application is to check vet references (if available) and personal references (if there is no vet reference).

If the references check out, you will be contacted for a meet and greet with the dog or cat you applied for. Please come with an open mind. You might meet more dogs and cats, and who knows where the perfect connection will be?

If the meet and greet goes well, we then conduct a home visit with all your household members, humans and pets, and if the home visit goes well, we’ll be ready to finalize the adoption.
