Update on the plea for 2 weeks of foster homes to save the lives of 3 Okeechobee dogs.
First of all, THANK YOU, we rapidly received 7 offers, after a full day on the phone and 3 drops out, we still had 4 families willing to foster, this is outstanding and we are so grateful
But it's never that simple! First the best news is we were granted 6 spots on the end of August transport instead of 3, so we can save 3 more lives. This is wonderful and a big scramble!
5 dogs arrived from Okeechobee, the 3 you saw, a little shepherd mix and a sweet little wire hair terrier. 2 more are coming soon. Yes, that is 7
The adorable little white dog most likely won't make it to transport as we found out he has a severe breathing issue that is being investigated right now. See Video below. We are hoping for answers at the beginning of the week and praying it is nothing huge. He is currently in foster with Laura who is taking great care of him.
Maureen is fostering the little brown dog, and Debra is fostering the 4th dog, the shepherd mix. Sandy is on her way right now to take the black dog home.
Sorry, it's easy to get lost in that.
Bottom line, we need 2 more foster homes. We don't know if the dogs are housebroken or not, cat friendly or not, we only know they are fully vaccinated, on flea and tick prevention, and friendly with people and other dogs.

This old and very loving dog needs a home where he can find peace and warmth for the rest of his days. Samurai’s story is near and dear to our hearts. We love this boy so much and he deserves to leave the kennel for a home. For the last 2 years, Samurai has been in a foster home, and he was very happy there, but his family moved out of town, and he is back in the kennels and very sad. Samurai is 11 years old now. He’s a beautiful Boxer/Pitt mix and around 75lbs of pure LOVE. He loves every human he meets and is great with kids. He has an amazing adoring personality and is a staff favorite for his calm and sweet demeanor. Samurai’s favorite thing is his toys! He loves to play fetch, but for an older boy, he can’t do much of it before he needs to take a nap. Samurai is very affectionate so if you’re looking for a companion to cuddle up with, he is perfect! 13 Valentines puppies born today, that’s a lot of puppies. We counted twice! 9 boys and 4 girls
Update: all 13 puppies and mama are doing good. They had 2 restful nights at their foster home. Not so restful for foster Mom who has to constantly watch to make sure the mama dog is not lying on any puppy, that's so many of them, she has a hard time keeping track. New photos coming soon
Meet Tao. A very handsome 3 1/2 yr old Snowshoe Siamese. Tao is back with Nala’s through no fault of his own. He came to us as a kitten and was adopted at about 12 wks old to a local family. They are no longer able to care for Tao, so he has come back to find a new forever home.
He is a typical Siamese—affectionate, talkative, intelligent and social. Siamese are known to show great devotion and affection towards their owners. They can be opinionated and sassy.
Since his return, he is staying with his original foster and it appears he’s fine with the cat he knew as a kitten. He’s minding his manners and using his kitty box like a pro. He also seems to tolerate the playful foster kittens in the home.
He loves lounging on the enclosed patio. He is very talkative and “chirps” when he is communicating. He would do well as an only cat, but seems to be just fine with other cats as long as there is a proper introduction. He would probably be fine with a calm, cat-friendly dog.

Congratulations to Scarlett on her adoption! This wonderful girl is now living the life she could only dream of a couple months ago. Scarlett had been at Okeechobee Animal Control for some time when she delivered one precious puppy and Nala's received a call to take them both as soon as possible. Thanks to our super foster mom Sandra and her family, Nala's was able to rescue Scarlett right away and provide a safe environment for her to care for her puppy, Leilani. Now she has the best home ever thanks to Brad and Kelly and their dog Beau. The dogs are best buddies already. These beautiful puppies were born at MedVet Jupiter between 5 and 7 AM . We rescued their Mom on Friday and she entered a very difficult labor sooner than expected on Monday night, we had to rush her to the emergency hospital to save hers and puppies life. #nalasrescue #happynalastails
