Nala was a life long companion and friend whose brave fight against bone cancer inspired me to re-name my rescue in honor of her. Nala's New Life Rescue has been saving dogs for years who have no other hope. We have a true "no kill policy" and save dogs who need rescued regardless of age, breed or health issues. We specialize in saving unwanted dogs (and cats) from kill shelters all over Florida w
ho otherwise would be euthanized or gassed, Nala's New Life Rescue pays to pull the dogs to safety, cover all medical and transportation expenses and provides a safe foster home or boarding facility until a foster or forever home is approved. All of our animals have a full veterinary examination, vaccinations and are spayed or neutered. We care for them until they are emotionally and or physically healed or a home becomes available. Nala’s New Life Rescue has saved and placed over 150 dogs in new homes in 2016. Nala's New Life Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Congratulations to Mickey and Scooter on their adoption! These precious boys came to Nala's when their owner sadly passed away. They were transported to our partner in NH, and very quickly adopted together. These two are bonded and all they had left was each other, so we are so happy to be able to make sure they found a new forever home together. Thank you to everyone at Darbster. We wish Mickey and Scooter many wonderful years with their new mom.

Congratulations to Rascal (dog in center) on his adoption! This wonderful boy is an example of "it takes a village" to rescue a dog and work diligently to find his forever home. Rascal was rescued by our veterinarian Dr. Mary Bressman and Nala's after being at Okeechobee Animal Control for 6 months. He was fostered by one of our previous adopters, Karen and she did an amazing job socializing Rascal and helping him become confident in his new life. Karen was looking for a safe home for Rascal to go during the day when she was at work so he could play with other dogs and she was introduced to Alice by a mutual Nala's volunteer. Alice previously adopted Jenny from Nala's and Rascal quickly became bonded to Jenny and her other dog Midnight. He absolutely loves his life with running and playing with his 2 buddies in their fenced yard then lounging on the couch. And best of all he still gets to see his foster mom Karen on the weekends so they can have some special time. Nala's thanks Karen for fostering and Alice for adopting and both working unselfishly together to allow Rascal to have his best life. We love you Rascal!

Congratulations to our awesome dog Hazel on her adoption! Hazel has been patiently waiting for a few years for her forever home and Susan was looking for a lovable companion after losing her dog of many years. They take care of each other and Hazel loves running in her big backyard, lounging on the couch and snuggling in bed. Hazel also loves going for car rides and we are all thrilled to see Hazel so happy. We wish Susan and Hazel years of fun and happiness together.

Congratulations to Courtney on her adoption! This lovable, sweet girl was a pleasure to have at Nala's ranch while she was waiting for transport to Darbster in NH after being rescued by Nala's from Okeechobee Animal Control. She was transported with Girl and Myles, who were both already adopted so now it is Courtney's turn. She is going to make this family so happy, she just wants to please and loves people and other dogs. We wish Courtney and her new family years of happiness.

Congratulations to Myles on his adoption! This sweet boy was rescued from Okeechobee Animal Control by Nala's and is another success story of one of our dogs being transported to Darbster in NH. It didn't take long for Myles to find his forever home once arriving at Darbster. He loves to play and is a great companion so we wish Myles and his new owner years of happiness.

Congratulations to Barky on his adoption! This lucky boy was originally a prospect to go on transport to Nala's partner in NH when it was discovered he was heartworm positive and they do not accept heartworm positive dogs in NH. It is truly an awful crisis at Okeechobee Animal Control with so many heartworm positive dogs and months later Barky was still waiting at the shelter, hoping for a miracle for someone to rescue him and pay for his heartworm treatment. Christine, who works at All Creatures Animal Hospital already adopted Munson from Nala's and when they sadly lost their other dog she reached out to Barbi and described what they were looking for. Jessica, the amazing manager at the shelter knew just the right dog for them. He had to be dog and cat friendly and Barky went right from the shelter to Crhistine's home. It really takes a village to keep saving these lives and we thank Christine, Vinnie and Munson for welcoming Barky into their family. Barky still needs to go thru heartworm treatment and he would like everyone to know - HEARTWORM DISEASE IS 100% PREVENTABLE BY STAYING ON PREVENTATIVE! We wish Barky and his new family years of fun and happiness.

Adoption Process and fees
When you first contact us to adopt a dog, you will be asked to fill out and submit an application on our website at nalasrescue.org/adoption-application
The application will be reviewed by the members of our adoption committee to ensure that the family will be able to match the dog or cat’s needs, and that we can move forward to a safe and happy adoption. The first thing we do after receiving an application is to check vet references (if available) and personal references (if there is no vet reference).
If the references check out, you will be contacted for a meet and greet with the dog or cat you applied for. Please come with an open mind. You might meet more dogs and cats, and who knows where the perfect connection will be?
If the meet and greet goes well, we then conduct a home visit with all your household members, humans and pets, and if the home visit goes well, we’ll be ready to finalize the adoption.
Adoption fees for most dogs is $150.00 and for cats is $60.00. For puppies, some small breeds and some purebreds, the fee is $350. Some exceptions may apply for hard-to-place animals. Ask us, please. A donation on top of the adoption fee is always appreciated if you can as adoption fees do not cover the cost of vetting and caring for our dogs until adoption.
The adoption contract states that if for any reason, you cannot care for your adopted pet anymore, you are to contact us and organize return to our organization. Adopted pets may not be re-homed without Nala’s Rescue’s approval.
