PROJECT RIOCANES // COLOMBIA
We support a street-animal shelter in the North of Colombia. The region is very impoverished and the animals are in very poor health. The local and national government does not support the shelter. This means the shelter has to cover all costs themselves. At the moment there is not enough money for food, medication and healthcare. Space is another really big problem. The shelter owners are living with more than 45 dogs in their private home, and they don’t have even space for the ones they have rescued, let alone take on more. That is why it’s very important to get enough money to buy a portion of land to keep these animals safe and healthy. Unfortunately, it is common for a lot of people to torture the animals because of a lack of education, also believing they can get sick from them. The situation is a nightmare, so many poor animals on the streets with almost no help. If you have a heart for animals, please consider donation, even the smallest amount goes a long way.
