MEET BRUCE!!! (WESTERN CAPE)

❤️New home needed URGENTLY – FAMILY DEADLINE 29 FEB 2024❤️

Bruce is the most gorgeous 2 year old male Boerboel Blend.

This lovely boy is a gem of a dog. He is good with children and other dogs. He likes to play with kitties but tends to play rough and that makes the kitties a little stressed. So rather no kitties. He is a big boy and strong. He needs an owner that can handle him on walks as he is powerful. He gets excited on walkies and if you are not strong enough you will be flying behind him hahaha.

Bruce is an intelligent boy and a very fast learner. Rewarding with yummy treats does the trick.

He likes to have doggy friends to play with and really enjoys going for drives in the car.

He sleeps on his human’s bed and LOVES cuddles more than anything and even when it’s hot he loves being under the blanket. He is a cuddle bug and will lie on you all night if he could.

He has company during the day but is completely fine to be on his own as well.

Bruce loves to play fetch for like 5 minutes then he gets over it. He is a very talkative boy and will tell you if he wants something. He loves his treats a bit too much and loves to have something to chew.

He has the cutest grumpy face and his eyes will melt your heart. You have to be patient with him and he will need some training as he is a jumper when he gets excited. Never shown any aggression at all.

"Hi there, my dad’s car was attacked (on Thursday) when he gave someone a lift home to Philippi during the taxi strike, and windows were smashed. All humans in the car are safe but our dog sadly jumped out during the chaos. This was in the Philippi area, Govan Mbeki Street near Browns Farms. At the time there was no going back as it was a one-way and very unsafe for various reasons.

Bielie is probably scared and hiding somewhere. He has a collar and a microchip. It doesn’t feel safe to go back and look for him in that area under current volatile circumstances. We’re trying to reach as many people as we can remotely, by sending the poster around by WhatsApp and email. We are contacting all shelters today, SPCA and the police. If anyone has any clue of what else we can do in this situation, we welcome your ideas."

Meet Teddy, sterilized male Yorkie who is looking for his forever home. He has been in a loving home and is used to company and other dogs around. He is very playful and affectionate. Loves people and other dogs. He is only 1 year old and high energy; he just wants to play and is adorable 🥰
He needs a place where there are other dogs to play with and someone who is home all day. He loves company and loves lots of walks where he can run in a park.

Update 26 April 2022: She was caught by TEARS today and is safe, she will be assessed and rehabilitated and then rehomed. She's been named Sandy.

This female dog has been roaming in the Zonnebloem / District 6 area between CPUT and Walmer Estate for about a month now and sleeps in the veld. She runs away when trying to approach her with food. Does anyone recognise her?

🌹We will be sharing posts on this page for The Hope Foundation for Cats to help these rescued kitties find homes. This non-profit organization is based in Melkbos and is run solely by Mirinda De Jonge at her home with the help of a few volunteers. All the cats have been sterilized, they are up to date with their 3 in 1 vaccinations, have all tested negative for FIV & FELV (2 months ago), and will again be vet checked, re-tested for FIV & FELV and microchipped before leaving for their forever home. Adoption fee is R650. 🌹 Meet Pepe, medium haired (fluffy), male, 9 years old (he still has at least half his life to live!) He is extremely loving and playful but battling being with so many cats. He needs a home where he is the only cat and no dogs. He will need secure boundary walls. He is healthy and will be the perfect companion cat. Becka went to her forever home with Nicole and her mom today (who recently adopted Rolo) a quick update from them when they got home: "Becka is doing soooo much better than I expected after collecting her today. Meeting with Rolo was like a greeting between old friends. I failed to capture the short but precious moment when they shared a mutual zoomies moment. She's eaten. She follows him like a shadow and is already somewhat insistent on pets and scratches. She's picked her couch and met one of the cats who very cat-like gave her a sniff and then strolled off. She is not quite jumpy but at this moment battling falling asleep very hard as there are tons of new sounds that grab her attention. I was prepared to wait a few days to see her wag her tail and to feel her press a cold wet nose against my hand but that's happened. I have a feeling she's gonna do really well." Elon is under 1 year of age, he was found as a stray on 14/01/2021 when he was nearly hit by a truck. We took him to see our eye specialist vet Dr Kim Tutt because his eyes were very narrow and it appeared that he couldn't open them. His eye sight is good but his eyes are dry. He's now getting lubricating eye drops several times a day and he must be feeling so much better! He has luxating patellas and needs orthopedic surgery which is scheduled together with his sterilisation later this week (one leg at a time). We are looking for a foster home where he can be loved and taken care of while his leg heals, this will take 6 weeks. He will then have the opposite back leg done and another 6 weeks of healing will be required, where he needs to be kept still and quiet. Please share for Elon to find a foster or forever home. 25/01/2021: We got an update from Tiger Lily's "foster to adopt" home this morning - "I don't want to be a foster dog anymore."🐶 And that the dogs are getting along well dogs get along and the cat is getting used to Lily - yoohoo - watch them playing, we are so happy for her to have found her forever home at last

Our Story

Overview: We are proud to be part of the "no-kill" movement which is gaining momentum throughout the civilised world. Every animal which comes into Adopt-A-Pet's care is treated with the same love and respect, whether it is a pedigreed stray, or a starving emaciated dog riddled with mange and other parasites, or a cat with a broken leg. The only animals which are humanely euthanised in the true sense of the word, on the advice of the veterinarians who have been assisting our animals since October 1994, are those which have terminal illnesses or incurable pain with no hope of recovery.

General information: Every rescued animal is checked by a veterinarian, treated if necessary, then vaccinated, sterilised and micro-chipped. Every animal receives anti-flea and deworming medication. Assistance is given by dog & cat behaviourists where needed. Prospective owners are first interviewed verbally and a personal home check is done before finalising an adoption. Animals are to be treated as part of the family and need to sleep indoors. A second pet must be adopted if the owner works all day. Note: we don't home single puppies or kittens unless the new owner has a compatible animal companion already.

The R950 adoption fee includes up to date vaccinations, de-worming, anti-flea treatment, sterilisation (if old enough), an identity disk and a microchip. In the case of puppies and kittens, the sterilisation fee is paid in advance (this is included in the adoption fee) and when the sterilisation is due, the owner is notified to take the animal to the nearest veterinary practice which assists ADOPT-A-PET.
