Lady got a chance to do a free session with Miss Heart, and her wonderful foster mom today. Heart has been in rescue for 2 years. After meeting her today she can say with total confidence that the only reason she has not been adopted yet is that she is deaf, and people fear what they don’t know. She is the absolute sweetest, happiest girl. She does get a bit excited on walks, but we worked on that today, and her foster mom is set up to help her stay calm even in situations that are super fun, like walks.

Heart is an incredibly fast learner, and was completely in tune with Lady. Her foster mom has already done a great job of teaching her the basics like sit, stay, etc. We were working on “place” today, and she had it by the time Lady left. She also currently lives with a small dog, and is crate trained, and absolutely loves people.

Heart is being fostered in Rock Hill, SC close to the NC border. She if anyone is interested in adopting her she is with

We took Grits to his new Vet today for a “Happy Visit”. Basically he just gets to walk around, and get treats. Not only did he take treats from Dr. Powers he jumped up on her, and let her pet him. If you know Grits you know most people don’t get to pet him right away. Especially in extremely anxiety inducing places like a veterinary office. We’re going to keep making random Happy Visits so he gets used to being there, and comfortable with everyone before his next real visit.

It’s been a day! I had to have my teeth cleaned, and some extracted. The doctor found a suspicious spot on the bottom of my tongue during the procedure that we had to biopsy. I also had to get a lump taken off my head to send to pathology as well. When I was waking up from anesthesia I bit my tongue in an artery, and it was squirting blood so the doctor had to go back in to repair that. Dr. Powers, Michelle, and Tina at have been so incredibly kind to me, Lady and Hairy Man the past two days. They’ve dealt with all of my issues and quirks. We’re so grateful to have found another Vet that we feel we can truly trusts who really cares about me, and understands my unique needs.

I went to lunch and shared a burger with Dad, then I got a pup cup. I think I finally have these people trained!

Today is the start of deaf dog awareness week. There are so many great things about having a deaf dog. We don’t react to the doorbell, other dogs barking, or kids screaming. We pretty much can sleep through anything. Being deaf is actually a super power.
