Dear Friends, effective as of this writing, Celtic Corgi Rescue is closing our doors. I could list all the many reasons why, and my first draft of this post listed out the issues with heartache and not having enough time and not having enough volunteers and irresponsible owners and all the things that are true, but they have been true forever. To list those things as the reason is to place blame on external things.

The reality is that the Universe has been telling me for the last couple of years that this is not my job any more. The message has been loud and clear, but I (Diane) was having difficulty letting go of an identity that has been mine for 25 years "Crazy Corgi Rescue Lady." I'm still in love with the breed, that has not changed. I will always own a corgi. I will always love and champion the breed. I will always support corgi rescue efforts by other reputable rescuers, but I simply cannot continue to run the rescue with the dedication, time and attention it needs, so I won't do it at all.

I have had some wonderful volunteers, Nina, Drew and Keana, Julia and Frank, Denise and Janice to name a few. Susan Ballard has been my biggest helper, rational as the day is long and none of this would have been possible, at this level, without her help these last 8 or so years. I was hoping Susan would just take it over, but she's lived in the trenches and I'm guessing she does not want to end up as nutty as me.

The small amount of funds currently in our account will be used for the fospice dogs in our care through the end of their lives. I will still honor my contract to take back any corgi for any reason for the rest of their lives and find them homes. Those of you who have Celtic dogs that need to return, just contact me directly about that.

DogSweetDog Charities, our funding 501c3 organization will continue, for now, but its purpose will be education, financial assistance and information. If you are donating monthly to Celtic and would like to change your donation to DogSweetDog, that is what your money will be used for.

I have loved being the Crazy Corgi Rescue lady. I have loved every dog that has come through our organization. I have loved every adopter who has taken these discarded dogs and turned them into little kings and queens of their homes, or stars of their own YouTube channels or therapy dogs. I'm so proud of them all.

I'll leave the page up for awhile so you can get pictures you might want and to give everyone opportunity to see this message.

Thank you all for your support over the years. Love you. Goodbye.

Diane.

Dog gone it. Sweet Gemma has a bladder full of painful stones and will require surgery on Thursday to remove them. She was supposed to go to her forever home Sunday. We hope she still can.

You all remember our darling Buddy, the one whose back feet had literally rotted off. He was adopted by Miriam Valerie. Buddy’s last cardiology appointment declared him to be heartworm free and healthy in every way! That vet visit, however was $860, plus Buddy is having a full dental tomorrow, and his Miriam is selling calendars to help pay these bills. The cost is $25 (includes shipping). If you're interested, please PM Miriam directly as she may not see all the comments here. You can also email her at [email protected]

Tonight we are saddened by the loss of Scout adopted by the Littlefields. He had such a great life with them and their Westie Lou. Lou passed away Friday, breaking Scout’s heart. He went to be with her today.

Tracy and Donald we stand with you in your grief.

ATTENTION!!! PLEASE READ!

Hello friends and followers. Hello new people. I (Diane) need a couple of weeks to sort through some things. I KNOW the website is down, because I took it down. Most of you who have followed the page know I’m struggling over whether to continue. One minute I’m pulling the plug completely. One minute I’m all in. Another minute I’m at “let’s scale it down.”

I need a vacation through November. Ok? I’m going to let things rest through November and see how it feels after Thanksgiving.

We don’t have any available adoptive corgis right now, so this is the perfect time.

Please don’t take offense when your messages and emails don’t not get a response. Just let me spend a little time without any rescue related business, and see what that feels like to me.

I appreciate it.

PS. To answer the biggest question I’m getting right now. No, we don’t have Puppies to hold until Christmas Eve so you can give as a present. And that statement will be for infinity.

I’ll see you in December. Thank you all for this.

Update: Reclaimed by owner.

It seems to happen every year, at holiday time. A particularly sad case comes in. This gentleman was found wandering stray. He has ehrlichiosis and his kidney values are concerning. He needs dental care. He may need some orthopedic attention as well. We’ve named him William after my dear friend Carol Williams who we lost last week. We will do as much for him as is possible. Meanwhile, if you are in Central Oklahoma and are interested in fostering William please email me at [email protected]
