Here are some general guidelines for walking your dog in winter:
Above 45°F (7°C): Most dogs should be fine for walks,
Small or short-haired breeds may start to feel chilly. 32°F to 45°F (0°C to 7°C):
Watch for signs of discomfort, especially in small, elderly, or thin-coated dogs. Consider limiting the duration of walks.
Once temperatures drop under 20 F, all pet parents need to be aware that their dogs could develop cold-associated health problems like hypothermia or frostbite when outside for extended periods of time.

As you are aware the met office is warning us about pending ice and snow. There will be lots of rock salt and grit spreading on roads which will inevitably be on paths and grass too.
Rock salt that is commonly used to melt ice can cause injuries, irritation, or burns to paws. Dog's and cat paw pads could become sore from repeatedly stepping on rough salt crystals. Or, a sharp edge could cut into a dog's paw, resulting in a laceration and bleeding.
After a walk please wash your dogs paws with warm water, and go between each pad to get any grit out. If your dog does not like having their feet touched then try to get each individual paw in a bowl of warm water and lightly shake the foot in the water.
For cats, get some pet wipes and wipe your cats paws, again in between their pads.
Just as when it is too hot to walk your dog, a dog will not be at risk if it doesn't get a walk for a day or so.

Yesterday the gorgeous Miss Bella came in for her groom. Bella is a very nervous little lady but thankfully has an amazing family who help her continually with the trauma she's gone through. Grooming is getting better and better each time she comes. Yesterday we were naughty and spent lots of time playing, but it was so much fun to do this with her. Well done little lady, see you again soon

Miss BB has been for a freshen up bath this morning. Sadly her home was the local property that had a fire on new years eve. Lots of cuddles and reassurance given, and it's exactly what she needs right now.

We are saddened to hear that Lady Gizmo (my little side eye girl) went over rainbow Bridge yesterday. A beautiful soul who always made me smile, told me off and made it clear she was the boss and always give lovely cuddles. I'll never forget you little lady. 🌈🐾💔
