Update on Miss Medora (aka Baby Girl)!
Update on Miss Medora (aka Baby Girl)!
She is slowly but surely regaining strength and stabilizing. Our doctor has been treating her with antibiotics, and she has received a dewormer for tapeworms. Once she is healthy enough, she will be receiving surgery to remove any remaining eye tissue to prevent further complications.
Her sweet and gentle personality is starting to grow as she recuperates. Once she has fully recovered from her upcoming eye surgery, we hope to place her into a loving permanent home. 🐾🐱 #rescuecat #blindcatsrock #kitten #spayandneuter
**7/30/24 New Update just added on separate post (she is doing better)
7-27 Update: Baby Girl is still in critical condition and is being monitored by our doctor. Due to guarded prognosis, we are postponing looking for a home until we can get her to a stable condition. Once she has been stabilized and received proper treatment, we will update and continue locating a loving home for her.
7-26 Update: Our amazing Dr. Gabriel is taking on this little kitty over the weekend to provide her with the intensive care she desperately needs. Her condition is very critical, so we are going to monitor her closely until she is more stable. Ideally, we are hoping to move her into a foster next week. We tentatively have plans with a local shelter to take her on, but we would love to find a home where she could thrive the best. We will keep this post updated as we work on getting this lil kitty’s needs met. Thank you all for the support! ❤️
Original Post: This kitten was found outside of the clinic in Medora, Indiana. She is in very bad shape and has no eyes. We are hoping to relocate her into a foster situation soon once she has stabilized and receives some care by our veterinary team.
Do you know what this is?
We’re curious to know how many cat lovers up there recognize this symptom. Please respond in the comments below.
The answer is…
ROUNDWORMS!
This is the symptom of the larval stage of roundworms being hatched in the lungs, and crawling up the trachea to the back of the throat, stimulating the cough response .
Once the cat coughs, they swallow them back down into the stomach, and the life cycle continues on to the next stage. The bottom line, your cat can do this for the rest of his life once exposed to roundworms. The trick is to treat them quickly, as soon as you see the symptom, with something like Ivermectin that will kill the larval stage. 👍🏻

🐾 Resilience in Tiny Paws 🐱
Yesterday, our clinic opened its doors to a tiny warrior with a heart as strong as her will to survive. This young kitten arrived bearing the weight of a severe, weeks-old open fracture on her back hock. The infection entered the bone, requiring amputation and, leaving her in desperate need of extensive rehabilitation.
Faced with this critical situation, her owner, unable to provide the necessary care, made the heart-wrenching decision to surrender her. In a heartwarming turn of events, our compassionate staff members Kendall Moore & Elijah Armendariz Peavy stepped forward to take on the responsibility of nursing her back to health.
Under the skillful hands of our wonderful Dr. Gabriel, the clinic rallied together to provide the young feline with a chance at a better life. Dr. Gabriel generously performed the extensive amputation surgery pro bono, setting the stage for the kitten's journey towards recovery.
Our story doesn't end there; it transforms into a collaborative effort with one of our dedicated rescue partners. Together, we're ensuring that this brave little soul receives the specialized care and rehabilitation essential to her healing process. 🌟🐾
Update: Unfortunately this little girl ended up succumbing to her injuries.
