Update From Huk’s Family:
We found our sweet boy today in the riffraff, and sadly it looks like he was hit by a car. 💔
Thank you to everyone who searched, shared, and kept an eye out for him. A special thank you to the person who spotted him and took the time to notify us. We also want to thank my in-laws, Connie and Ray as well as our friend, Bryson for helping us pull him out, and Storke Funeral Home - King George Chapel for meeting us after hours so our boy can be cremated with love and dignity.
He gave us so many memories—from his wild, goofy antics that always kept us laughing, to his gentle cuddles and sweet kisses that melted our hearts. Our kids grew up with him by their side, and he will forever be a part of our family story.
Rest easy, buddy. You were so very loved. 🐾❤️
To the one who struck him, and left no word—
We understand.
Maybe you were scared.
Maybe you froze, unsure of what to do.
But so were we.
We were scared when he didn’t come home.
We searched and searched, clinging to hope.
By the time we found him, hope had already rotted.
His body; bloated, bare of fur,
a collar the only whisper of who he once was.
Unrecognizable.
Buzzards circled, the air heavy with the smell of death.
We carried him up from the riffraff in that cruel condition,
our hearts breaking with every step.
All you had to do was tell us.
A word, a call, a sign,
and we could have spared him this.
Spared us this.
We could have brought him home sooner,
touched his fur one last time,
looked into a face we knew, loved, and recognized.
Said goodbye with dignity.
Instead, our final memory is decay.
A silence where compassion could have lived.
Next time, please.
Choose mercy.
Choose courage.
Choose love,
enough to spare another family this kind of ending.
