Custom Pet Meals We all want what's best for our pets, which includes the freshest, most nutritious food we can offer them.

Commercially manufactured foods cannot offer the same freshness and nutrition as our made-when-you-order meals, nor can they provide the individual needs that your pet deserves. I have been feeding raw since the early '90's, having attended several seminars on the BARF diet with Dr. Ian Billinghurst. I started with my first dog-of-my-own, a Siberian Husky I named Sabrina. She came from a working s

led dog breeder that fed a mostly raw diet. Up until this point, like everybody else brainwashed by dog food companies and vets, I just thought you fed the best kibble you could afford, no big deal. My only fear of going all raw was not creating proper balance, which is why I traveled to see and meet Dr. Billinghurst. Keep in mind, I was 17 - so safe to say I was obsessed with my pup! I did work my little powerhouse (and by work I mean "holy crap this is fun!"). We traveled the upper Midwest competing in weight pulls and a few team races. There I met many people and got hooked up with a police dog training apprenticeship in North Carolina. Taking what I learned about behavior modification, aggression, obedience and working dog nutrition, I came back to the northern suburbs of Chicago and became a self-employed dog trainer. I worked with more rescue/shelter dogs than I could actually count, rehabilitating through behavior modification and nutrition, much of which was on a volunteer basis. I also fostered special needs dogs who would otherwise sit in a no-kill shelter their entire lives. Years of this started to wear on me emotionally, so I took a break from training and stuck with nutrition. I started making pet food for family and friends, then their friends wanted in on it. I never fully went back to training, although I think about it all the time, and I'm currently a personal trainer, for people, and have a strong knowledge base on human nutrition as well. I still foster on occasion and participate in fund raising events as often as possible. Our meal plans are based on your pet's specific needs, according to his/her breed, weight, activity level and physical condition. Of course your personal requests are considered as well. Most meals are prepared and fed raw, as we honestly believe this is THE healthiest way to feed your pets! Cooked/semi-cooked meals are available for those pet owners who are not yet comfortable with raw feeding. All foods are made with fresh, human-grade meats, vegetables/fruit and are grain-free or very low-grain. Healthy fats and supplements are added for the needs of your pet. Every meal is labeled with an ingredients label so you know exactly what you are feeding your dog, cat or ferret.

Time to make the dogs’ food! Here’s this week’s menu:

Pork loin
Ground turkey
Mackerel
Beef heart
Duck heart
Duck wings
Beef kidney
Bull fries (yes, balls)
Chicken livers

Divided into daily portions, 2 weeks supply of food (not including their bone meals) for a total of 17.5lbs

12/06/2018

This is Chloe taking down a whole, very large chicken leg quarter. I recorded from start to finish to show that dogs are very much designed to eat bones.

10/06/2018

Starting the switch:

The best and most gradual approach to switching your dog over to a raw homemade diet, is to swap out one meal (assuming you feed twice a day) with whole chicken parts. Wings are appropriate for small dogs, drums and thighs for medium dogs, and whole leg quarters for large dogs. If you feel intimidated by chicken bones, rabbit bones are softer and would also be an easy-on-the-system option.

The reason for starting with meaty bones, is that the bones control intestinal upset (cannon butt) that can be caused by the change of diet (not the diet itself). Bones are also a very important component to a properly balanced raw diet (more on this coming soon).

Here’s our girl Chloe chomping down on her chicken drummies 🍗

Animal Medical Center of Chicago

We think about their paws in the Winter with the ice and salt, we also need to think out it in the Summer with that HOT pavement.

To see if the street temperature is safe enough for a walk with your dog. Put the back of your hand on the pavement, and if you can't keep it there for five seconds, it's too hot for your pup's feet.
Alternatives to walking on the hot pavement include; walking in the early morning or late evening when temps are lower, walking in the grass, paw wax, or booties.

Hello pet friends, its been a while!! Since my move to Nashville, I have closed shop on making pet foods for customers. Due to popular demand, I have decided to shift this page to a place to come to for information and advice on feeding your pets a homemade diet, something I am obviously passionate about.

Please feel free to post any questions, pics or resources you may have.

Thank you all for your patience and for sticking around!

Do you sometimes overlook your dog's vaccinations and feel guilty? Feel bad because you can't afford what your vet charges to vaccinate your dog? Well don't! Research by immunologists (the people who study vaccines, not profit from them), shows that annual vaccinations are not necessary.

Give Them Meat: Why Are Vets Resistant To Raw Dog Food?

What does YOUR vet tell you about nutrition? Here's some food for thought (pun intended).

http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/give-them-meat-raw-dog-food/

Last month at the Waltham Nutritional Sciences Symposium, researcher Professor Wouter Hendriks presented more evidence that dogs are carnivores (you can see the video summary here). Those of us who feed raw are inclined to say, “Yeah? So what?” We’ve all taken that for granted, given the dog’s sharp…
