Shumaker Photography From 2008-2011 my company specialized in portraiture and weddings. I am learning, growing, and experimenting each time I set out.

And although I enjoyed every moment of it, I have decided it is time to pursue my ultimate passion — wildlife photography. I have a bit of a gypsy soul and a thirst to learn, which has given me an eclectic background that adds to my style. Wildlife and photography have been my two strongest passions since I can remember. 004, I decided to pursue photography full time. I have photographed weddings, children, families, models, sports, wildlife, news and nature. By day I work as a reporter/photographer for The Mendocino Beacon, in Mendocino, California. I love searching for when that perfect moment meets wonderful lighting.

Yesterday I witnessed a battle between a disinterested squirrel and an upset blackbird. The squirrel wanted to sun itself, the black bird wanted the squirrel to leave. Here is one of the many photos I took in the ten minutes I watched the disagreement.

Have you ever seen this unique rodeo event? It could be a Fort Bragg special event. It's called Hide Racing and the photo basically shows what it is about. One person jumps on a hide tied behind a running horse, and they hold on for dear life. If they make it to the finish line, the one with the fastest time wins.
