Thanks to yet more weather warnings of very strong wind and rain both Friday outside sessions and Sundays mantrailing are once again cancelled. SATURDAY ALL SESSIONS ARE AT THIS TIMES GOING AHEAD AS SCHEDULED

The wonderful Walter doing a high find at yesterday's mantrailing component trail. Interestingly the two dogs with less experience but more hunting drive and ground scenting preference followed the exact trail including climbing up and walking along the wall to the tree I was hiding in. Pluto who has done several high finds before and leans towards air scent simply honed directly to the wall below the tree looked straight up at me " found you, now chunk down the treats !"

Mantrailing is on this weekend I wasn't sure it was going to run because of the ice and snow warnings but it seems to be OK by Sunday. So for those who have already said they'd like to come or would like to come do you have a venue that you'd like to do?

Due to popular demand I will be running a second puppy course from the 18th January this will be a 12 week course
puppy foundations starting 7pm at The Core 18th January for 6 weeks followed by
life skills 11am at Churchtown Nature Reserve starting from the 1st of March
this course costs £132

Sorry ladies I'm not going to be able to do the Tregantle walk this afternoon I've caught a virus/cold thought I'd be OK and sea air would do me good but as I've just got wheezy and light headed going up my stairs I'm not going to make the hill. I hope you all consider going anyway and hopefully will set up another walk soon.

Classes and mantrailing start up again this weekend so will see some of you then!

2nd Christmas Social walk was a foggy success 8 well behaved dogs lovely human company nice cup of coffee and Christmas cake at the top of the tor and even though no views today it was beautifully atmospheric. We have decided to do the Cann Woods walk on New Year's Day 9am meet up then we have Tregantle on the 2nd!

Unfortunately I am going to have to cancel the social walk tomorrow once again scuppered by an Amber weather warning for Gale force winds so it wouldn't be safe to walk through a forest. Or risk asking everyone to drive in those conditions either fingers crossed for better weather for the three after Christmas

Lovely morning mantrailing on Dartmoor today and Myrtle pup got to have a go and oh my was she brilliant 👏 😀

Scentwork games and sports are for all breeds and all ages this is Myrtle doing some trailhunting at just 16 weeks

Lovely morning mantrailing lovely work from a pack of Beagles the youngsters getting the hang of the game and the older trio doing fantastic delayed trails. Awesome trailwork and even better off trailing behaviour from Husky x Magnus who has gone from a reactive dog when I first met him to trailing maestro and then a fantastic chilled out boy hang out watching a super busy carpark people dogs bikes and wandering ponies Beatriz you should be super proud of yourself and your boy! Also have to say a hugh thank you to my long suffering mum who came out to be an extra misper and puppy sitter as yes Myrtle came with the big dogs to supervise the trailing and having a short little toodle on the Moor must say she was a little star following the older dogs lead and just settling into watch the world go by

She's home and settling in incredibly well couldn't make up my mind on her name so did a blind draw and the winning name was Myrtle

As most of you know I'm in the process of becoming an International Trail Hunt Instructor. So I am working through the course with Merryn as well as videoing me teaching a couple of my clients for my assessments as well. This is exercise 10. A 20: 2 trail, that's 20 meter straight line then a 90° turn walk 2 metres then place the trail pod. As you can see Merryn and I are loving this game. Can't wait to be able to offer this great sport to you all!!!!

A little about me

I am a local dog trainer with a degree in Dog training and Behaviour, I am also a qualified instructor for Mantrailing Uk, Wag it Games and Real Dog Yoga as well as having scores of other training qualifications and years of experience. I offer a number of different classes, courses and workshops as well as 121 as requested.

I have four dogs which I train to do a number of sports, including mantrailing, scentwork, obedience, dog ball and gundog work and have also trained dogs for agility and hoopers
