Mountain Cross Minis specializes in performance and pet beauties. Though we do have some Miniature American Shepherds that have done well in the show ring we prefer to have them out playing herding, running agility or rally, being active as they were meant to be. Our dogs are just what you need if you want an active companion with an off button to cuddle or lay next to you at the end of the day. They are not for the faint of heart but for people with a heart for doing performance events, hanging around the farm, or working as a therapy dog. There are 8 puppies available on spay/neuter contracts to someone with a special need. All are within breed standard. Photos are examples of some pups looking for you to take them home.

Do any of these pups look like someone you would like to take home? Will be ready in 2 weeks. Very fun bunch of pups who will most likely make great performance dogs, therapy dogs (some of them will be good at this), etc... given the time, energy and training that will help them succeed. They are almost 9 weeks old now, have received two sets of vaccines, have had worming treatment but have not tested positive for such, have their nails trimmed regularly as well as being cuddled. Every now and then I come across this post. It is not only a sweet way of remembering Kris and her love for one of our pups, Zoey, but it is a reminder that above all else creating something this beautiful makes being involved as a breeder of Miniature American Shepherds the most meaningful. To me there is nothing more special that having pups with personalities that "fit" each owner's situation. It isn't about the titles, certificates or other accomplishments to us- it is about the relationships. Each of our pups have a story to tell and we LOVE to hear about them. Love you all

Not to brag but we have a girl (Zoey)who lives in Illinois. She had a story submitted to MASCUSA for a chance to earn the Goodwill Ambassador award that was determined during Nationals at Purina Farm this past week into yesterday. Unfortunately, she was not selected but this is her story- a story that touches our hearts, and those of her family, daily. This is what we live for in our breeding program. This is who we are as breeders, dog lovers and caring people. We also want to take the time to thank Kris's daughter for writing this beautiful tribute- her Mom was very special and, obviously, so is Carrie for taking Zoey into her own home.

One reason I don't like posting birthday greetings on this page is because I forget some dates. And even when I remember dates I forget to mention all the owners of my pups. My bad, my brain. Doesn't mean I love any of them any less- just means my plate is full. So to those of you I may have missed in 2021- HAPPY BIRTHDAY from your first human mom. Well, it has been 7, yes 7, years years since our first Miniature American Shepherd puppies were born here at Mountain Cross Minis. We have been delighted watching, enjoying and learning from you all. So here's to all of you Thunder with James Sperry and Julie Sperry, LG with Sandrine Bohn and Didier Georges, Splash with Merry Zakrzewski, Blaze with Lou Johnston, Jeanne with Cat Baty, Link with Yo Ortega and family, Boomer with Arani and Family, and last, but not forgotten Columbo with Tammy Horns! You have all done great things with these pups. We love and appreciate each and every one of you! Please post a new photo of your dogs if you are able- we would love to see how they doing

I was reminded today that I missed a birthday greeting :'( I try hard not to do that but July was a very hectic month for us. No excuses so here it goes! There is another litter from Mountain Cross Minis that is having a birthday in August! Today actually! Six years ago I was making a trip east to take care of my sister and these little ones were born under that care of my husband and a friend. None of you will ever be forgotten and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Happy Birthday Link (Yo Ortega), Little Gloria (owned by Sandrine) but now lives with a really good caregiver, Boomer (Shadowland), our little star Splash (Merry ), Blaze (Lou ), Jeanne (Cat ), Thunder (James), and two that are living in heaven, Cocoa and Itty Bitty Charlotte. You have all been a blessing to both us and your owners.

Woo hoo! Yeah-- I am overly excited. Yes I have good reason to be. Something exciting happened this weekend. One of our pups from Wolvie and River Q'd in 1 Novice Standard class and both the Jumpers with Weaves classes. This is her first weekend of trialing! We have also made a decision to not have a litter this year like we normally do. If things settle down in the fall we might consider it but at this point we want to be responsible since we do not know how long the crisis in our country will last. Sometimes life brings unwelcomed surprises. Today we at Mountain Cross Minis are sad to hear one of our special puppy buyers has left this world for a place beyond imagination. So kind, helpful and real Elise was to us. Her smile would brighten the day no matter what kind of troubles came our way. Not without her own problems, she would comfort, guide and support those she knew and loved. There are no words to say how devastated we are. Fly away our dear and loving friend. May you find eternal peace and joy in the hands of our God. We do not understand why you had to leave but we know you loved all of us and we will all be together again some day 🌻

As a breeder I am committed to staying in touch with my puppy buyers. Find out how their doing, giving advice when needed and supporting my buyers no matter what activity they are involved in with their dogs. If there is a problem that arises I am always here and open to resolving the issue to the best of my ability- going above and beyond what my contracts state.

There are many breeders out in the MAS world who will ignore you, deny any problems with their lines and are never there to support your journey with you pups- no matter what their contract states. I have been on both ends of the dog owning world and have received little to no help with the MAS I have purchased from other breeders. Out of the 10 MAS I have 2 are home bred, 1 was given to me, 1 breeder friend has been very helpful and always there when I need, the other 6 have been purchased from breeders who, though they say they care, have never contacted me, beyond the transition period, about how their puppies are doing.

We have a true family oriented attitude. We love our dogs and pups like they are our family. Regardless of the differences we have with some of our buyers we make every attempt to find out how the pups we have bred are doing at least once a year. We don't have fancy facilities, we don't have a lot of money, we don't give lavish gifts to any or our puppy buyers nor do we ignore any email or message. We also don't play favorites. We love them all forever. Some people decide to hide the pups from us and it is hurtful but it is what it is. We go on in life. We continue to try to raise beautiful, smart and loving puppies that will shine in the eyes of their owners. Love you all-- forever our puppies you will be

Every now and then a breeder looks at their program and says Wow--- I had a hand in this. This morning I was reconnecting with our Mountain Cross Real Velveteen Rabbit (Bunny) who had been away for a few months with our friend Sandi Vanni. Sandi took such great care of her while my husband had surgery and recuperating. We will ever be grateful for her. Bunny is a puppy from our last Wolvie/River litter that we decided to hold back for our program. Now 7.5 months old I have to say she is that WOW puppy for me. Her personality is phenomenal. She is sweet, smart, medium energy, good herding instinct, listens, learns and wants to please. She is definitely a keeper 😊 She has already brought a lot of joy to my life.

I was waiting to post the results of our dogs in conformation last weekend and this. Unfortunately, our Bunny did not get to go out this weekend at UKC. But, Meggie was out last weekend for her second show with AKC. Though she didn't do as well as we had hoped she brought home a few ribbons, a Point of Achievement, and Pam, her owner, learned some new tricks. Love them both! Until next year..... 2020 is going to be amazing for both of them!
