I added to my Angel Dachshund last Fall. Mama Heidi’s version of the Rainbow Bridge. I wear it on my left arm & hold it over my heart often ❤️.
Every time, whether a tiny newborn puppy or an adult, it takes a piece of me 💔.
This last week has been particularly hard. Instinct & Mother Nature for the win 🥺😢.
And while sadness has prevailed, I am so blessed to have Ruby & her 2 girls.
I will introduce “Lucy & Ethel” shortly. Beautiful Red Heads ❤️🐾❤️

The Brindle girl is gone 🥺.
Thank you All for your love & prayers over the last few days. It means way more than you know 😘
Ruby & the 2 big girls are doing great. I will get pictures soon. Just going to take a break today & let things settle.

I’m saddened to share with you that I lost Ruby’s boy 💔. Her brindle girl is still with us. She was seen by a Vet today. Her heart is strong & she’s a fighter. But, she is struggling. Every time I check her, I’m amazed she’s still alive 🙏🏻🥺
The 2 big girls are healthy & strong. No worries there. Ruby is incredible & in all honesty, has really only paid attention to the 2 big girls. They know 😢.
I’m taking a much needed rest. I’ll update again if anything changes.

Ruby Puppy Update 🥺🐾
It’s been a struggle with the 3 smallest puppies. Supplementing with formula, SubQ fluids & lots of warmth.
Sadly I have lost the B/T female 😭.
The male & brindle female are still with us. The 2 bigger girls are doing great.
Ruby & Mama Heidi are not giving up. Keep the prayers coming please 🙏🏻 🐾🥺

Can’t love this enough ❤️🐾❤️

“What’s the hardest part about having a dog?” they asked, their tone casual, like it was just another question.

I glanced at the worn leash hanging by the door, my chest tightening. “Letting them go,” I said quietly.

They frowned a little, waiting for me to explain. “They come into your life like they were always meant to be there,” I said, trying to find the words. “They make everything better—simpler, brighter. And you think it’s always going to be that way. But it’s not. One day, they’re gone, and you’re left with all the space they used to fill.”

They nodded, but I wasn’t sure they understood. “It’s not the messes they made or the routines you have to let go of,” I continued. “It’s the absence. You walk into the house, and it feels... wrong. The quiet is heavier. The mornings don’t feel the same without them nudging you awake.”

“So why do it?” they asked, their voice softer this time.

I sighed, glancing down at my hands. “Because the love they give you is worth every bit of the heartache. They teach you how to love without holding back, even when you know it’s going to hurt in the end. And you keep choosing that love because you know it’s one of the best things you’ll ever feel.”

🤝 Pasadena Humane, which is seeking donations and operates in the region of the devastating and ongoing Eaton fire, said that it had "taken in over 300 animals due to evacuations and have staff and volunteers working nonstop to help with their care" as of Wednesday night. "We are starting to see many animals coming in with burns and injuries," the group said. "These animals are being treated in our ICU.
