Love my special needs friends!

It's no secret that our soon to be 19 year old Britches is singlehandedly the most important and best cat in the universe. She's old, forgetful, and epileptic, but to us she's absolutely perfect. Words cannot express what she means to us. But did you know that Britches has her very own therapy cat?!

No, you read that right. We originally adopted Olive years ago because "omg kitten" but it quickly became apparent that Olive was a special girl. She bonded fast with Britches, and they have been together every single day since. I have a million pictures of them cuddling with each other. When Britches has a seizure or a bad day, Olive is there to watch over her and comfort her. She might not fully understand what's going on, but she knows those days Britches needs a little extra help and she's always and I mean always there to support Britches. Olive keeps Britches safe from falling off the bed or ever feeling lonely. They eat together, sleep together, explore together. Britches has memory issues but recognizes routine and familiarity so Olive helps keep the routine going. Something about Olive is damn special, it fills my heart with joy.

I snapped these photos this morning, they were sleeping between the edge of the bed, and me, their usual spot. I just love love LOVE seeing Olive "hold on" to Britches keeping the poor old girl safe and warm. Today will be a good day, mostly due to these two.
Absolutely true friendship. 💖💖
