Say good night to the bad guy. This is the last time ju gonna see a bad guy like this again.

Watched Scarface again last night. Such epic quotable lines. Definitely my favorite gangster movie.

No animals were harmed in the making of this post.

Crickets and grubs as the protein source for your dog’s food??

What do you think?

It certainly is more sustainable but, I think the main problem is that it is still a highly processed kibble in a plastic bag that has to be shipped all over. AKA not sustainable…..

I want to bear your thoughts though…

Happy traditional chinese veterinary medicine day to all of my amazing colleagues who are working every day to bring more tools with less aide effects to veterinary medicine. It is going to take all of us and more to shift from a “pill for an ill” approach to a more “consider the whole patient, seek the root cause and actually do whatever possible to prevent disease in the first place” approach.

Thank you to

And so many more amazing veterinary and pet professionals who continue to learn and teach and treat using tcvm!

My favorite way to introduce raw bones is through turkey necks. The tends and ligaments in the neck act like floss and the bones are small and soft enough even french bulldogs can chew them. Just please observe them the whole time! Sometimes they can be super excited at first and try to swallow it whole. Don’t worry! If they do swallow it whole it will digest no problem!

NEVER EVER FEED COOKED BONES!

And I would love to hear or see pictures of the shockingly cleaner teeth. Make sure to take before pictures and after pictures and post them in your stories and tag me!

You will be very pleasantly surprised!

Added my leftovers from my lunch for extra color on the pups food tonight. It was roasted root veggie hummus on rice topped with purple cabbage, carrots and spinach. Also, a few roasted pumpkin seeds and a few chunks of pineapples. Both are good for dogs with gut issues.

Chiquita (my new pet name for Pinky because she is my little Chicky and she bananas) came to me because she has chronic ulcerative colitis. I am using my food therapy training every which way I can with her.

I have faith one day we won’t even remember the last time she had a bloody b***y. And that she will he able to digest any foods. In the mean time. Food is her best medicine. I do not want to keep her in antibiotics for life.

Getting the microbiome heathy and balanced is the key to life long health and longevity. Then we feed all the magic foods to help her body detox and heal itself.

There are situations where these might have to be the priority.

Perhaps if you’re going to space then shelf stable and light are top priorities.

During a zombie apocalypse. Shelf stable and available would be important.

During a great depression maybe the cheapest possible food is what you have to have and you just deal with it.

But most of us are lucky enough to have options in the USA. this privilege is not lost on me.

having the ability to choose a slightly less convenient and a slightly more expensive option is not only our privilege but also our responsibility. Because when you know better you do better.

We need to make the shift for our dog’s health sake and society as a whole. Support small local farms and responsible companies that create the best food and take care if the earth for future generations.

Our choices matter! Most major dog food companies have making money as they are number one priority. But I know that your main goal is to give your dog the healthiest food possible. And it is not going to be found in a kibble.

This is partly why I do not participate in this system as much as I can avoid it. I do not recommend any of these hospitals. However I have friends who work at them and are wonderful people.

Some of these corporations are doing things a little bit better than some of the smaller hospitals can do(in my experience), such as actual paid maternity leave.

It’s not a black and white situation.

But the food in my opinion is a black and white situation. All of their crappy crap processed food can just quit being made! Mars owns Pedegree, Royal Canin, Nutro, Eukanuba, and Iams, Greenies- and more…..

They sell the dog food that makes dogs sick and then own the hospitals that can “fix them”.

give animals crappy nutrition and then they have dental disease and have to have surgery every single year.

This entire system is broken!

it feels overwhelming sometimes. I know. What is one person gonna do? Well for one thing, just do some research on their brands and do not purchase from them.

Thank you Danielle for using your influence for good! .school

Great to see this sweet girl and her sister today. I am still providing house call vet care to the St. Augustine area. I just changed the name if the IG to match the YT because canine nutrition is my favorite thing to talk about and I need to simplify my life and stop trying to do so many different things on social media especially.

I will definitely still be sharing some pictures of my amazing patients when I see them. And interesting cases.

Chinese medicine is so cool! It take in more and different clues than allopathic medicine does. It accounts for more individual variables and that is why it is harder to create double blind placebo controlled studies.

That being said there are many studies that prove the effects of acupuncture!

The time of day and time of year are two variables that western medicine just doesn’t pay attention too. But, I think we have all noticed in ourselves or our pets when something is always worse in the morning or at night.

This clock helps us to best treat these conditions! And it helps us make sure we get to the root of the issue instead of just treating the symptoms!

How cool is that!! Thank you and for the graphic and the training!!

EASY DIY TOOTHPASTE RECIPE!
We all grossly underestimate the power of oral hygiene. But the science is clear: oral health plays into everything about us. When our pets’ mouths and gums are clean and free of infection, we reduce their risk for dangerous inflammation that can affect their whole body.

Beginner’s Tip: If you’ve never worked on cleaning up your dog’s mouth, using this blend of ingredients from your kitchen is an easy place to start. Baking soda is a safe abrasive that helps remove plaque, and coconut oil has innate antimicrobial properties. Using gauze, a cotton round or a soft cloth, massage the mixture onto a tooth, starting with your dog’s upper molars (where most plaque accumulates). By cleaning one tooth a day you can desensitize your dog to the teeth polishing process and minimize stress.

Yep, it’s already happening! Pumpkin spice has hit the stores and coffee shops.

Yea, it’s still 100 degrees outside here in Florida but, apparently thinks its time for fall.

But, hey….pumpkin is always a good idea for your pup! The fiber helps improve digestion and they usually love it!

Another great tip from one of the best!

Today’s The Forever Dog Longevity Tip 🐶
Add some apiaceous vegetables (e.g., carrots, cilantro, parsnips, fennel, celery, parsley) to your dog’s dry or canned food! 🥕

These gems contain polyacetylenes, an unusual class of organic compounds that has antibacterial AND antifungal benefits. They play a key role in detoxifying several cancer-causing substances, specifically MYCOTOXINS. Mycotoxins are tasteless, odorless fungal toxins found in pet food ingredients that cause organ damage and immune problems.

Eliminating mycotoxins from your dog’s body can be really difficult but serving up apiaceous veggies is a great way to enhance the metabolism of these toxic compounds!

Raw or cooked, carrots and parsnip slices make great training treats, while cilantro, parsley, and fennel can be minced and mixed in with your dog’s food.

This easy food hack is one of many simple strategies Rodney Habib and I include in The Forever Dog book to keep your dog healthy. Available now at https://foreverdog.com/dog-longevity-health-and.../

I saw an article that was blaming raw dog food for antibiotic resistant e.coli infections. If course I had to read it. And right in the article it said this! With a link to the study. It’s awesome that they linked the research and that research is being done! Antibiotic resistance is no joke!

But, the point of this post -if you read the caption kudos to you-is that headlines are misleading! And so many people only read the headlines! Even beyond that….articles are often misleading. You must actually read the original research to find out the truth and find out if the research is even worth considering in the first place.

This paper did highlight some scary findings. Commercial dog food is a major contributor antibiotic resistant E. Coli inflection in people. And in dogs in some cases-although thankfully this is less common I just happen to be treating a patient right now with a very resistant strain of e.coli causing persistent UTI. Poor thing! Its awful!

This all starts with the cows and chickens and the fact that factory farming uses antibiotics to help animals grow faster and larger and therefore make meat cheaper and more readily available.

I eat meat! I’m not suggesting everyone be vegan. But, something has got to change!

My best suggestion is to support local farmers who use regenerative farming practices and raise animals on pasture.

Which will mean that meat is more expensive and we eat less of it possibly. Definitely less fast food as a society as a whole.
