The truth is, I felt totally alone when we first got Cookie and I was trying my best to do everything right.
I worked two full time jobs, granted she came to work with me at both jobs and one of those jobs was dog walking. So she was well looked after.
But that left zero time for attending dog training classes, zero time to work with a dog trainer 1:1 to figure her out. Zero space to actually suss out what the heck I should be doing to raise my dream dog and to teach her to be a good dog in public.
So I was left with the internet and my own thoughts to help me try and train this teenage dog! Pretty unhelpful.
No one gets a dog to be pulled around, ignored on walks and generally feel more stressed.
Fast forward a bit and I mentored under dog trainers and found my people that would propel me forwards on our journey. I didn’t have capacity for the middle man, I went straight to the source to learn how to be a dog trainer.
And it was in that moment that I found my purpose. I don’t want anyone to ever feel as alone as I did in trying to raise a dog.
It can be hard, confusing and messy, so having a hand to hold to guide you can make the world of difference.
So here we are, my hand is reached out and ready to take when you’re done with feeling alone trying to train your dog. Whether you need 1:1 dog training support, group dog training classes in Wellington or a bit of structure and guidance with accountability through our online dog training club, there is no reason to feel alone when you work with Your Canine Compass.
