It’s been a long winter. Unfortunately not much happens with the chickens when it’s cold. They eat A LOT! But the day I have been waiting for is here!!!! I have cute little fluffy butts available!!!

10 day candling was done Monday. Great results! Of 56 eggs set, only 3 were not fertile and one quitter. So 52 eggs going well ☺️ I don’t think I’m going to candle again at lockdown. I’ll do a wait and see how many hatch

More chicks then I can count now 😊 I’ll get better pictures when I get them out of the incubator. Looks like most will be light, or lemon. If anyone is interested in fluffy butts, please message

Day 10 of incubation. Looking pretty good 😊 36 of 41 eggs seem to be doing well. Of the 5 removed, only 1 was because it wasn’t fertile. I still never count my chickens before they hatch, but it’s a good start to the season. Any hatchlings will be sold

On the lighter side of things, the 2019 birds are starting to look much better after their first molt and the young ones from July are getting huge 😊 Since I’m looking for size, I will be offering some of my 2019 hens for sale. Just waiting to see who I want to keep for next year

It’s been a difficult few weeks here. We had something get into the boys pen and lost several of them. Everyone has been moved to a safer location, but whatever it was, probably coyotes still managed to get one of the guineas. Working on ideas to keep them in and safe.

Unfortunately due to a malfunction with my incubator, my last batch didn’t make it. The problem is fixed but won’t be hatching again until February 2021. Hopefully it’s a much better year for all of us 💕

Since I couldn’t waste perfectly good hatching eggs, I set a bunch in the incubator 😁 I’m pretty sure this has become an addiction for me. Anyhow there should be some cute fluffy butts looking for new homes in a couple weeks

I had a sale for hatching eggs fall through. I have been debating if I should incubate or not. Would there be any interest in the eggs or chicks at this time of year? I really don’t need chicks right now.....
