This is SO IMPORTANT. Remember that friendly dogs can still be detrimental to another dogs training. Also, friendly but rude is still a problem.

It really doesn’t matter if your dog is friendly or not.

What matters is that you don’t take the choice away from another owner (and their dog) as to who they interact with.

There can be so many reasons why a dog and their owner need space from you and your dog.

Please allow them that choice 💙

So this is the post I didn’t want to make, but so many of you have called and texted to check on us.

Henry’s biopsy results are back and he has a type of cancer. For those of you who like to research, it’s a grade 2/low mast cell tumor. We will be spending the coming weeks in appointments and deciding the best course of treatment without diminishing his quality of life. We are looking at combinations of Eastern and Western medicine. This Instagram and Facebook will now be dedicated to updates about Henry, as we navigate this new norm, and make him a pretty fantastic bucket list in the process. We are still hoping to have a couple more years of this silly, loving, fetch playing and tug-o-warring boy.

Since Henry is the OG Happy Canine, I wanted to share with all of you.

Henry boy had a rough day. He had a few lumps and bumps removed, and is resting comfortably at home (and I’m not leaving his side). Biopsies to come.

This dog has the hearts of his whole family, and has stolen the hearts of countless dogs and people he has helped. I don’t think anyone is ready to watch him grow old, but thankfully he is aging rather gracefully.

Hi everyone! A really important announcement to end my social media hiatus! Heat stroke is scary, and REAL! Remember that our furry and hairy friends can’t tell us when it’s too hot for them. Keep any exercise to the cooler parts of the day and keep it short and fun! The middle of the day is for fast potty breaks outside and lots of enrichment toys in the house.

We are practicing social distancing and have tons of cancelled appointments because of that. It’s life, and this too shall pass. In the meantime, I’m urging you to get outside with your dogs! Henry and Storm got to hang out with and at the beach today!

Hi everyone! I’ve been wracking my brain on how I can help the community at a crazy and scary time like this. So here goes.

The Happy Canine is now offering dog walking for the people in our community. If you’re likely to get hit hard by the big bad bug, and you want someone to come, give your dog a potty break and some fresh air, we are here. Don’t worry about your financial status. We are doing this as a “pay what you can” service, for as long as we can offer it. Shoot us an email or a DM if you or someone you know is in need. We will even do contactless transfers in your yard!

Good afternoon to all fantastic clients of The Happy Canine:

I wanted to reach out to you all and discuss our part in keeping coronavirus contained. Each one of the staff members will be washing their hands upon entering your home, and will be rescheduling all sessions if they feel ill. If, at any point, you or someone in your household feels ill, please text me immediately and we will reschedule your session at no penalty to you. The World Health Organization has declared this a pandemic, and we will be keeping up to date on the CDC guidelines. If, at any point, it makes sense to do a full quarantine, your unused sessions will carry forth until said quarantine is lifted. Kristen is also happy to conduct sessions via FaceTime for anyone that requests.
