ADOPTING: Pomeranians are cute and silly, but they are not for everyone. Your lifestyle should MATCH the handful of needs in caring for a Pomeranian. If you are considering becoming a dog owner for the first time, please read up about this breed in our Note Section. We do require veterinary references and a friendly Home Check by one of our volunteers to simply look for perilous situations that y

ou may not be aware of. ADOPTION PROCESS: To adopt a Pomeranian from us, the first step is to email us for an application. Once an SCPR Rep. receives and reviews your application, we then set an appointment for you to meet the dog you are interested in. If all goes well, you can take the pet home for up to 1 week on a trial run. Adoption donations can vary anywhere from $100-500 depending on the dog's health, age, and temperament. Donations can be paid by cash, check, credit card, or in advance by Paypal. During this period your money is still fully refundable. During that time if you have training issues, medical problems, etc please feel free to contact the rescue and we will do what we can to remedy the problem. Our goal is to help these pups re-adjust and acclimate to their new homes with as little difficulty as possible. If things just don't work out for the entire week you can return the dog for a full refund or exchange for another possible match. If things do work out we finalize adoptions after the full trial is complete. At that time you receive medical records, microchip information, rabies/microchip/sterility certificates, a copy of the adoption contract, and any personal belongings assigned to the pet at intake. Once the adoption is final you can write the adoption donation off as it is 100% tax deductible (We are a non-profit rescue group). Lastly should you ever be unable to provide adequate care for the pet we will always take them back, no matter the reasons. FOSTERING: Not sure about Adopting?! If you're not sure you can commit to providing for a Pommie for the rest of its life, may we encourage you to try fostering? This is a great, no-cost alternative way to see if a Pommie is right for you or your family's lifestyle. APPLICATIONS: Please email us directly at [email protected]

RESPONSE: Turn Around time upon receiving your application takes anywhere from 1-5 days. Our non-paid volunteers who handle the Applications also hold jobs and do their best to get back to you ASAP. Of course, other factors like computer troubles, vacation time, emergencies, and such can affect this process. INTAKE PROCESS: Once we accept a Pommie into our rescue, whether it be by Owner Surrender or from a shelter, they are screened for various issues like behavioral and health problems prior to adopting out. BEHAVIORAL SCREENING: This means that we check via our foster parents to see if they get along with kids, the elderly, cats, dogs, other animals, etc. If they nip, are scared of fast movement, loud sounds, are jumpy, or don't like to be touched, we bring in a trainer to help the fosters work on these issue(s). MEDICAL SCREENING: Our rescues are dewormed, current on vaccines, free of parasites and communicable disease, treated for pre-existing conditions, and declared healthy within manageable limits. This is where ALL rescues are ALWAYS in need of donations-to cover outstanding Veterinarian bills. Happy New Year from Southern California Pomeranian Rescue! 💫🥂♥️🐾 On this special evening, we’re celebrating the teamwork that saved a newborn rescue litter during an emergency C-section. 🐾🐾 Every life matters, and we are so happy we could help sweet Evie, who is doing great! A heartfelt thank you to the veterinary staff at Warner Pet Center in Woodland Hills for going above and beyond this holiday. What an incredible day! We had eight adorable dogs at the event, and every single one has applications—one even went home with a prior adopter! 💕 Seeing our alumni and long-time friends stop by truly warmed our hearts.
For nearly 12 years, we’ve been lucky to call this location home, building connections with amazing adopters and supporters like you. If you missed this event, no worries—your support is always felt, whether in person or from afar.

Shiloh’s journey reminds us that every dog deserves a chance, and even the toughest challenges can be overcome with love and patience. 🌟.

We first heard about Windee—now known as Shiloh—from a volunteer at the OC Animal Shelter. She had been found, unclaimed, and was clearly struggling with neurological issues. As a volunteer-based organization, we always weigh the costs—extra care, time, and the chance a special-needs dog might not get adopted. But isn’t that exactly what we’re here for? So, of course, we took her in.

This darling girl (who we first thought was a Pomeranian!) had trouble with coordination, causing her to circle in her kennel. Her condition—possibly genetic, trauma-related, or toxin-induced—made her future uncertain, but she ate well, stayed joyful, and captured the hearts of everyone she met.

After several neurologist visits and determining she would always be a little special, she found her perfect match. Today, we’re thrilled to share that this sweet girl has been adopted by a family who has adopted from us before and has long supported SoCal Pom Rescue. Shiloh is now living her best life!

Behind every happy adoption story, there's a little chaos and a lot of love! 💛 We got a call from our amazing partners at BakersfieldStrays about a tiny Frenchie puppy who was left outside and ended up injured and limping. (As a side note: please don’t leave your dogs unattended, especially when they’re puppies!) His owner didn’t want to cover the vet bills, but one of our incredible volunteers stepped in—because when it's within our means, we never say no! 💪

This brave little guy underwent shoulder surgery and has fully recovered. Now he's living his best life in a loving forever home!

Rescue work isn’t always pretty, but it’s always worth it. ✨ We’re honored to say... Pierre, ADOPTION FINAL!

We had a fantastic time at our Sweet California Pizza Kitchen event! Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a big shoutout to CPK Spectrum Irvine for hosting. What’s better than pizzas and Poms coming together for a great cause?Check out a few photos from our day! All proceeds go toward our medical fund to support homeless Pomeranians. We’ve already started reaching out to applicants, and we’re thrilled to have three Poms on trial adoptions. If you haven’t heard from us yet, we’re working through the list!

When Singin first came to us, she was incredibly shy and hesitant to trust again. Being an adult Pomeranian, we knew her journey would be about retraining her heart to feel safe and loved. Her first trial adoption wasn’t quite the right fit—she was nervous, hiding in the corner, unsure of the world around her.But fate had something sweeter in store —At one of our events, while Singin was hiding in her dog bed, she met someone who simply ‘got’ her. One of our amazing volunteers sat with her, gently placing her on their lap, and in that moment, we witnessed magic. Singin bloomed, showing her sweet personality and loving spirit. It was clear: this wasn’t just a connection—it was a love match. ✨🐾. Singin, ADOPTION FINAL! Paws in the air! 💕🌟
