Red Barn Ranch offers Kids Horse Camps each summer. Our first camp is on July 30 - Aug 1, 2019. Next two are Aug 13-15, and Aug 27-29

We are looking for volunteers to assist the young kids with their horses. Volunteers should be 16 years or older.

Horse experience is preferred but not totally necessary. Volunteers would be matched with one child, assist in tacking up, leading horses when necessary, assisting child with mounting, dismounting, etc. We play games on horses so very laid back, fun oriented and do a wide variety of things. Geared to the ages and experience of the children.

This is a Christian camp so has a devotional component.
Hours are from 9:00 to 4:30.

We have a variety of paddocks, pastures. Some with less grazing (for horses with special needs) and some with larger grazing areas. All have walk in shelters. Board includes hay (slow feeder bags used - owner supplies). Boarders supply their own grain, supplements, etc. Extra charge for feeding extras.
Private tack lockers provided. Immediate access to mountain trails. Round pen, large riding arena, and obstacle course on site. Less than 5 minute drive from downtown Summerland. 35 years experience in boarding horses. Very friendly environment.

The Red Barn Ranch was excited to - once again - have the Summerland Beauty Pageant contestants and their "little buddies" visit us for an fun evening of "line dancing" led by Lee Parkinson and her assistant - Izzy Gorman. They learned two varieties of line dancing - and it was amazing to see how quickly these kids caught on!!! Everyone seemed to be having fun and it was a blast to watch. Afterwards, they enjoyed some refreshments and then gathered around a bonfire and sang Christmas songs.

THE RED BARN RANCH

The Red Barn Ranch offers a wide variety of services and activities in the community. The following is an outline of these services.

VACATION RENTAL

We offer ranch style accommodations in a relaxed home-away-from-home atmosphere. A fully furnished private suite with 2 bedrooms, dining and living room, bathroom, and kitchenette. We have a private courtyard to relax in, as well as use of large yard.

The Red Barn Ranch is always busy with many activities. Below are some of those services. Please note all packages can be modified to meet your personalized requirements. Contact us for prices.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Birthday parties for any ages. An hour of riding followed by an hour for eating, bon fire, roasting hot dogs or marshmallows and opening presents.

TRAIL RIDES
Trail rides are available on a variety trails. Flat rides for the novice riders on the TCT or more mountainous trails for the experienced rider. Before each ride we go over the basics of riding if you are a beginner. Lunch options are also available upon request.

HORSE BOARDING
We offer horse boarding. Please call for more details.

RIDING LESSONS
Riding Lessons are offered to all ages. Younger children we start with basics, ie balance, just being comfortable around and on the horse. Then we progress at your own pace. We do a combination of ground work and riding.

HORSE LEAD LINES
These lead lines are for smaller children (or older) who are not able to ride on their own but just want the experience. We lead the children around in areas they feel comfortable on the farm.

HORSE THEORY CLASSES
In the winter months, we offer Horse Theory Lessons. These classes cover the care of horses, learn about feeding, first aid, etc. All the things you don’t have time to cover during riding lessons.

HORSE CAMPS
We are in our 13th year of offering kids horse camps in the summer as well. Details vary so contact us for further information. Ages start approximately 8 years of age.


HORSE OBSTACLE COURSE
We are presently developing our new Horse Obstacle Course. This is a great way to challenge you and your horse and develop and great working relationship. Our course will be open to all our boarders, and also to the public upon reservation. Fees applicable.

DUSTY BOOT
We are very excited to introduce
***** “THE DUSTY BOOT” ****** A unique Western decorated venue for a wide variety of private events or functions. Birthdays, family reunions, meetings, retreats, weddings, staff parties, etc. Contact us for more information.

WEDDINGS
Quaint, western style venue for smaller weddings. Unique setting for unique weddings.

RETREATS
We can also accommodate smaller retreats with a variety of the different services mentioned above. Contact us to discuss your personalized needs.

SCHOOL EVENTS
We have had school children, students from other countries, etc visit the Red Barn Ranch to enjoy a variety of personalized packages.

DINNER PARTIES
We will be doing some “pilot” trials of dinner parties this year. Check our page for upcoming events.

COUNTRY CHRISTMAS HORSE RIDES
Every winter, just “after” Christmas we host our annual “COUNTRY CHRISTMAS” at the Red Barn Ranch. Mark it on your calendar. It is an afternoon of lead line horse rides in our arena. We have a concession on site and bon fire to keep you warm, and roast marshmallows. A great day for the family.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
As well we like to support the community by participating in local festivals such as Summerland Light up, Action Fest Parade and rides in the park.

The Red Barn Ranch was thrilled to have 17 students from China visiting us on Friday. They wanted to experience the farm life and animals. They participated in horse back riding on our horses, Sunny, Cheymis, Twizzle and Dakota. Most of them had never seen horses let alone ride one. They also went on a old fashioned wagon ride with Harvelle Clydesdales. Then roasted hot dogs and made smores over a bonfire. A few of them even dressed up in some western clothes to take home some memories.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Red Barn Ranch Country Chistmas Horse Rides yesterday. We had a great time. Lots of snow, good food, good times. Thanks a bunch to all my volunteers Laura Harris, Joy, Lauren Forsyth and Mike, Jess and Ryan, Karen Grosch, Carla Wright, Brayden and Claire (for helping me set up) Hope I haven't forgotten anyone. We had another amazing night at "Summerland Light Up" last night. It is a magical event for many. Red Barn Ranch has been doing horse rides at Light Up now for many years.... maybe 8 years.

We could not do this without the support of my incredible friends and volunteers. I want to thank the following for all their help setting up, hauling horses, leading horses, working the registration desk, helping little kids with helmets, etc.

Sheral Marten, Karen Grosch, Louis Lemire, Cathy Seminoff, Tammy Williams, Jeanette, Samantha, Dave Jones, Leanne Shaw, Carla Ohmenzetter, Jennifer Wright. It truly takes a team to make this happen. I hope I haven't missed anyone

Also thanks to our horses, Sunny (Veteran), Cheymis (Veteran) and Dakota (our newest rookie - he did amazing)

I've always loved creating unique “experiences” for people…. and nothing gives me more pleasure than to see people enjoy their time here at the Red Barn Ranch.

Bundle up real warm and head out on our “Annie Oakley Ride", This adventure will take you on a 1 or 2 hour trail ride (your choice) through our beautiful mountains (if you prefer a more challenging ride), or the Trans Canada Trail which winds along Trout Creek (for a more relaxed, flatter terrain ride)

We can accommodate the experienced rider or the novice rider. We always start our rides with a brief instruction on the “how to’s of riding” so don’t worry if you have no experience.

We will set aside time to take pictures of yourself on your horses, among the endless scenic backdrops. Enjoy sipping on some hot chocolate as you ride along. And you can even request some old west country tunes on the ride to make you feel like you’re riding in the days of old. We like to have fun!

We’ll return to the ranch where (if you choose) you can either help us un-tack and brush the horses and bond with them a little, or if you’re ready to warm up, mosey into the ranch house and huddle up to a roaring “real wood “fire place. Snacks, coffee/tea or wine await you. Spend a half our or so…. Relaxing and visiting. Perhaps planning your next visit.

Well it has been a very busy summer and now that fall is here, we are busy with riding lessons and trail rides.

Fall is a great time for a leisurely trail ride through our beautiful mountain trails or along the Trout Creek on the Trans Canada trail. The cooler weather is much more enjoyable for both us and the horses.

We invite you to book a trail ride and/or pair it with a picnic lunch on the trail, back at the Ranch or even a home cooked dinner. Or perhaps for a special occasion, even an overnight stay. We can customize a package to suit your needs.

We are open all year round and offer winter rides as well. Nothing quite like bundling up VERY WARM and enjoying a brisk winter trail ride.

Just finished 2 Spirit Wranglers horse camps this summer. One overnighter for older kids and one day camp for the younger ones.

Thanks to the parents who entrust their children to us.
