Sebring, FL Urgents Friends of Highlands County Animal Services PLEASE READ!! We are not Animal Services!! The shelter caretaker does let us know of behaviors that she sees inside the shelter environment.

We are volunteers who work closely with Highlands County Animal Services to help place the dogs & cats that are looking for a safe home. Please be aware that this page IS NOT RUN BY THE SHELTER but a group of volunteers that work in cooperation with the shelter in order to gain visibility for the animals who would otherwise have very little. Sebring, FL Urgents - Please Save Us page and a

ny parties involved in the posting of dogs/cats on this page make no claims as to the temperament of adoptable or foster animals. Sebring, Fl Urgents - Please Save us page and all parties involved cannot be held responsible for any animals behavior. Even if these animals appear good with other dogs or cats there is no guarantee that there behavior will remain consistent in other situations or surroundings. We are always looking for:
- Rescues who can take dogs (especially med-large mixed breed) and cats.
- Fosters who can give some space and love to an abandoned animal temporarily on behalf of a rescue.
- Advocates who will share these photos, and email rescues who might be interested in saving these animals
- Adopters who are looking to give a permanent home to a formerly displaced pet.
- Donors who can help defray the costs of vetting and other expenses for rescues.
- Volunteer Transporters who can help transport animals to rescues or adopters. Thank you for your help!!!!

Update: it looks like we have a pilot lined up if the weather holds up, for two pups going to two separate rescues and fosters on Wednesday. We can’t update on these dogs until we receive official hold emails from the shelter. Thank you all for sharing!

We are looking for a volunteer that is able to do a rescue transport of one dog on either Tuesday AM, where they would arrive at destination in the Orlando area before 2 PM, or anytime on Wednesday. This would be from Animal Services in Highlands County to the foster in the Orlando area, and the rescue will meet at the foster’s home as well. Who can help with a transport in that direction this coming Tuesday or Wednesday?

**RESCUE ONLY**

Marty is a very sweet boy that gets the zoomies for attention. And he loves treats as long as you tell him easy first. Seems to walk well on a leash. He does seem dog selective, so we suggest a meet & greet. He used to hang out with his brother.

Marty #29751
Male brindle/white
50lbs HW- 3-4 yrs old

Marty was adopted out from Palm Beach Animal Control back in 2024. He has old injuries to his hips, they were broken and treated at Palm Beach. Records will be provided. He is very dog selective. We were told that he is not good with children. He has to be told to take treats gently. He did not react with hands near his feed bowl. His date of birth is 11/30/21. He is heartworm negative, and weighs 50 lbs.

ADOPTION FEE:
$90 Non-Spayed Female (covers spay surgery, rabies vaccine, heartworm test and microchip)
$80 Non-Neutered Males (covers neuter surgery, rabies vaccine, heartworm test and microchip)
$35 Fixed Male or Female (covers impound fee, rabies vaccine, heartworm test and microchip)

501c3 rescues can pull for free (does not cover spay/neuter)

Rescues must provide spay/neuter paperwork to Highlands County Animal Services within 30 days

Please be aware that when you adopt a dog/cat from Animal Services and they go to the veterinarian for their spay/neuter surgery, they will charge you a small fee for a bath & flea/tick prevention.

If you are interested in a dog or cat, please make sure that you have a solid plan in place before having the dog or cat pulled or adopted. We just want to make sure that at the end of it, the dog or cat gets the loving home he/she deserves, not taken back to Animal Services because everything wasn't thought through and it has nowhere to go.
If you can't help by adopting one of these fantastic dogs or cats, you can also pledge to help with money for a rescue to help cover the cost of the medical necessities for the dog/cat. Pledges help to fund the efforts of rescues who are already cash-strapped. To make a pledge, post it in the thread of the dog/cat that you are wanting to help and we will track it. If the dog or cat gets saved, we will post what rescue you can honor your pledge to. Please know that due to changes with Facebook, we cannot message you.

There is NO confirmed update yet on this dog. As far as we know it hasn’t been found. As soon as we get an update, we will post it.

Urgent! If someone is missing a medium sized black and white dog near 27, in the vicinity of the Sebring Diner, a dog has been hit by two cars and a truck, but ran off. One of the drivers and law enforcement have been looking and haven’t been able to find the dog! BOLO! If you’re missing a black and white medium size dog, in that area, please get out there and help look…
