Love.
It's what rescue is all about. And it's a simple answer for why we do what we do.
A couple weeks ago, we were contacted by a breeder about a puppy no one wanted to buy. The puppy had trouble walking.
When he arrived in our care, we were hopeful that something could be done. Levi has so much joy for life, and an incredible amount of determination.
A few days later, our hearts broke for Levi after a veterinary exam determined that nothing that can be done to restore the use of his legs.
But there is no time to feel sorry for him. Dogs teach us a lot of lessons in life, and Levi has quickly taught us that his life will still be lived with love and joy. We will focus on what Levi can do, not on his disability.
Levi's love of life goes beyond the strikes against him. With a tail that's constantly in motion, he's eager to play, cuddle, and follow his foster mom from room to room.
We need your help. Dogs with disabilities tend to be in our care for a long time, and the cost of his care will quickly climb. In the coming days, Levi will have more veterinary appointments and be fitted for a wheelchair.
We save dogs like Levi and give them another chance at life because we love them, and because we know so very often we're saved by their love too.
Donate today to give Levi the love he needs. Upon your donation, a Valentine keepsake photo of Levi will be emailed to you, which you can also share on social media or print and give to someone you love.
