Scout's Honor rescues animals from city pounds, including animals from various animal shelters in the Houston and surrounding areas. Scout's Honor also takes in animals living on the streets. We do not limit our program to healthy animals or particular breeds, and we often save animals from abusive situations. Scout's Honor provides these beautiful creatures with a second chance to be placed in lo

ving, permanent homes so that they can receive the love and attention they sorely deserve. Since our formation, Scout's Honor has rescued over 900 animals and currently has over 80 dogs and cats in our program! Scout's Honor's rescue program is "foster based"; that is, each of the animals we rescue is placed in a temporary foster home, where it receives much-needed love, care, and structure while it waits for its permanent home. We could not exist without our wonderful foster parents. Unfortunately, Scout's Honor is unable to take in each animal about which we are contacted. We simply do not have enough money, fosters, or other necessary resources to help all the stray and neglected animals in the Houston area (and, believe us, there are an overwhelming number of needy animals in Houston!). Our ability to take in a dog or cat depends on our current funding, our volunteers, and whether we have an available foster home. Many times we are forced to close our intake when we run low on any of these. We never wish to turn away an animal in need, but sometimes we do not have the luxury to choose. We have the most amazing dogs and cats in our program! Indeed, we are almost a "one-stop-shop" for any type of dog you might want. Here we go again with our sweet Quinn girl. We desperately need funds for this girl again!! The good news is she’s healed remarkably well from her dental! But about a week ago, the tumor on her toe suddenly ballooned up. At first, we weren’t too worried since it didn’t seem to bother her or look painful. But it feels like one step forward, one step back with this girl—she just loves to keep dancing around. Now, the tumor has grown to a giant, uncomfortable, and worrisome size. Since everything else is under control, we have to remove it before it gets worse. Quinn can’t step right and keeps stepping on it, and we know she’ll be so much better off without it. The vet isn’t sure what it is, but it doesn’t look like just a fatty tumor.

This girl is incredibly happy, sassy, funny, and full of love, and we’re committed to giving her the life she deserves. Her foster family has been amazing, and it’s been incredible to watch Quinn shine and blossom with their care. We know we’ve asked for help before, but we hope this will be the last time. Quinn’s estimated tumor removal cost is $1,100, and she’s scheduled for surgery this Tuesday. We urgently need your help to raise these funds—let’s get this girl the care she needs! Amelia is in full fall mode and ready to find a home! 🎃🍁🐶Sweetest Amelia girl is doing amazing in her temporary foster and is fully recovered from her spay surgery — which means she’s ready for her forever home! She’s come out of her shell so much in just over a week. She’s started picking up toys and chewing on bones, loves playing with her foster siblings, and is doing well with basic commands. She’s still a “puppy” for sure at likely just over a year old, but is highly trainable and loves cuddles & human affection. It’s hard to believe this girl was living on the streets for who knows how long. Did you know that with SHR you can always foster-to-adopt? Now, at about 8-9 months, she’s growing up sweet and strong but still waiting for that special family to call her their own. This poor baby was sadly thrown from a moving truck and came to us so scared that he could only army crawl for weeks. But look at him now—he’s blossoming every day and gaining confidence! We’ve had some questions about the five stray pups and whether we’re still trying to catch them — and the answer is a big yes! We’re working super hard every day to bring them to safety. Just last weekend, we rescued sweet Amelia, and she’s doing great — happy and already spayed. But here’s the truth: these babies have been through so much already, abandoned once and then hurt in places they thought were safe. It’s going to take time, maybe even longer than we thought, but we will never give up on them. Each time we visit, they get a little closer, and building their trust is the most important thing right now. Please believe us when we say we’re still on it, and we won’t stop until every single one is safe. That’s just who we are. Keep sending your prayers and good vibes for these precious pups — we hope to bring them home soon!🐶❤️

Amber is just bursting with love and ready to find her forever home! This sweet girl was sadly dumped along with Cricket and Noodles when their owner went through tough times, and they lived under an overpass by the bayou before we brought them to safety. Noodles and Cricket have already found fosters, and now it’s Amber’s turn to shine! She’s such a fun and cool dog who LOVES long walks, running around like a whirlwind, soaking up all the love, and getting along with every dog she meets. We don’t know about cats yet, but we can definitely test that! Amber is super social and would be the perfect companion for brewery visits or restaurant outings. She truly deserves a cozy home and to leave boarding behind. If you’re thinking about fostering, we’ll support you with everything you need and cover vet costs—you just provide a safe, comfy, loving space.
