Rocky has been here at the shelter since April 11th. While in his kennel he comes across as very energetic, outside the kennel he is a super good boy is much calmer.
Here's what his dog walker has to say about him.....
Rocky is such a sweet and well behaved boy out of the shelter! Unfortunately he gets so worked up in his kennel that he will bark and jump and grab. Once we’re outside, he’s a great dog to walk. He walks loose leash, goes potty, doesn’t react to bikes or strollers or joggers, and he listens well. He’s a very handsome dog who will do great in a calmer environment!
Rocky's adoption fee has been WAIVED!
Come in and meet Rocky today, noon -5:30pm.
Buster is GREAT with other dogs!! Why has he not found a home yet??
He has been in the shelter for 4 months and ready to get out of here!
We are on a roll!! 4 more dogs left the shelter yesterday, one of those being Rayne who has been here for months!!
Thank you to all who have adopted the past two days!
Miss Rayne is a super good girl who is great with other dogs!!
Seriously, why is this girl still here??
The shelter will open at 1:30pm today due to the city's Employee Lunch-in for all city employees.
Sweet, chill, beautiful mini black panther! Senior cat Bagetta needs your lap! ❤️
Dumped Chihuahua Girls
These 2 were dumped at the shelter and Thomas Jefferson back in July. We are happy to report that with great team work they both were brought to safety and now in resuce!
Even though Oxlee has been here the longest, 112 days to be exact, he has not let it affect him at all. This boy is still as happy and friendly as can be but would really like to have a home of his own!
Come in and meet him, fall in love and take him home!
Helen being playful
**PET OF THE WEEK!**

Please give this girl a chance and come visit with her. You will find a scared dog in her kennel but clearly that is not who she really is OUTSIDE the stressful and scary shelter envirnoment.
**PET OF THE WEEK!**
Helen is such a sweet girl and would really like to find a home!!!
We know that there has to be someone out there who is looking for a beautiful, sweet and playful companion! We just really don't know why Luna hasn't found a home yet!
Luna and Triton 2/20/23
**Featured Pet of the Week**
Luna is a great energetic girl who would benefit from an active family. She is great with dogs and LOVES playing with them. Luna is a big girl, very tall and lean. She is about 60lbs. She loves to chase the ball and go for walks.
(German Shepherd in video is NOT available for adoption!)
❗❗ So, we got a big surprise last week. A big shocking surprise! 24 cats were dumped loose in our parking lot in the middle of the night! They were huddled at the doors, around the building and in the storm drains. They were sickly, malnourished and covered in fleas. Most we could pick up, and some we had to trap in the storm drains. We will never know the circumstances of their living conditions but obviously it was not a good one. Thankfully they were dumped here where they got excellent care instead of out in the middle of nowhere! We are slowly putting them in adoption as soon as they are healthy. If you are looking to adopt a cat, please come and check them out! They range in 6 months to 2 years old. They love the TLC they are getting here and really deserve a loving home. Look for their photos soon! 😻
GORDON IS PURRRFECT! 😻
Come see Gordon! He really wants to be in a wonderful home!
5-6 years old, domestic shorthair, neutered male, Good with Cats: YES, came in with Lola, Good with Children, 19 lbs, FeLv/FIV test: FIV + Adoption Fee: $50.
Gordon is a sweet guy! He is FIV positive so he will need an indoor only home. Gordon needs to lose about 8-10 lbs in order to improve his health. He currently has a limp in the hind legs that is more than likely related to him being over weight. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) What is FIV? FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus just as HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It typically causes a weakening of the cat's immune system. While similar to HIV, FIV has a long asymptomatic period and our job is to prolong this period. FIV is not transmissible to people! However, we do not recommend adopting an FIV cat if there is an immunosuppressed individual in the home, as FIV cats are more likely to become infected with and shed opportunistic organisms which may be transmissible to people. How long will an FIV cat live? Life expectancy is variable, but many live a long, happy life. Approximately 18% die within 5 years of infection. An additional 18% are still alive in that time frame but are experiencing illness from their immune-suppressed state. The remaining cats appear normal in that time frame and many go on to live long lives, only periodically experiencing illness. How is Diagnosis Made? At this shelter diagnosis is made using a screening test that uses a blood sample. It should be noted that administration of the vaccine for FIV will cause a cat to test positive. We do not currently have the technology to distinguish a vaccinated cat from a truly positive cat. How did this cat become infected? The major route of virus transmission is by the deep bite wounds that occur during fighting. There are other means of spreading the virus but they are less common, such as maternal transfer, sexually and via improperly screened blood transf

Gucci is a beautiful and sweet girl. She is an active girl who enjoys playing fetch but still learning how to bring the ball back. She is smart and learns quickly. Gucci would benefit from an active family.

Oreo had another play date with a dog more his size. He loved playing with Brisco. Oreo is such a sweet guy who gets along well with big and small dogs. He doesn't really know what toys are and can be nervous at times. He will do best with someone willing to teach him how to trust and play.
Come in and visit this sweet boy! Make sure you get him out of his kennel and interact with him to see the real Oreo.

Victor came into the shelter almost a month ago as an owner release. Family members had developed allergies to the cats so they have to rehome them. Victor is the last to get adopted. He is a sweet handsome boy. He can be shy at first and doesn't like coming out of his box, as that is his safe place, but if you get in his kennel and love on him, he immediately starts purring and soaks up the attention. He's bashful in the shelter but we feel he'd be a lover in a home environment. Come in and spend some time with this sweet guy. Shelter is open Monday through Friday, noon-5:30 pm
