Keep Pets Safe This Halloween! Halloween can be full of excitement, but it also brings unique risks for pets. With costumes, visitors, and treats everywhere, it’s easy for animals to become stressed or accidentally exposed to danger.

Here are a few simple ways to keep them safe:

☑️No Candy: Chocolate and xylitol (found in many sugar-free treats) are toxic to pets. Store all candy well out of reach.
☑️Costumes Are Optional: If your pet wears a costume, make sure it doesn’t limit vision, movement, or breathing.
☑️Watch the Door: With trick-or-treaters coming and going, pets can slip out unnoticed. Keep them in a quiet, secure space indoors.
☑️Check ID: Confirm your pet’s collar and microchip information are up to date in case they get loose.

Halloween should be fun for the whole family — including your pets.

Honoring Veterinary Technicians During National Vet Tech Week

This week, we recognize the extraordinary veterinary technicians who bring skill, compassion, and calm to the chaos of disaster response.

CCADT is honored to work alongside them when emergencies strike. Their expertise supports the animals in our care and strengthens the entire response efforts from field operations and sheltering to medical triage and recovery.

Vet techs are often the quiet heroes behind the scenes, ensuring that frightened, injured, or displaced animals receive the comfort and care they need. Their steady hands and compassionate hearts remind us that preparedness isn’t only about logistics, it’s about the
people who show up when it matters most.

To every veterinary technician who has supported our partner organizations and response teams: thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and heart. Your work saves lives and inspires us every day.

This Saturday, October 4th, support the Fresno County Sheriff’s Jeep Rescue Unit at their 2nd Annual "OCTOBERFEST " fundraiser. This dinner and dance starts at 5:00 pm at Landmark Square, 735 Third Street in Clovis.

For tickets, visit: https://www.fresnojeepsar.org/events

🛻 Also known as the "Jeepers", when wildfires occur and animal evacuation is needed, CCADT works closely in coordination with them and the FSO's Mounted Posse'. The Jeepers have specialized vehicles and experienced volunteers that go where others can’t — scouting terrain, clearing access, and guiding teams in dangerous conditions.

During the animal evacuations, they serve as an advance team ensuring that roads are safe and accessible for our animal rescue vehicles, stock/horse trailers that are headed into evacuation areas. Also, we will outfit them with pet transport carriers so they can help bring dogs, cats, and other small companion animals to safety.

But they can’t do it alone. This incredible work depends on community support.

👉 Please consider joining them on Saturday or making a donation to support these heroes on wheels:

Together, we can protect animals, families, and the brave volunteers who show up when it matters most. ❤️🔥🐴
