19 years ago...Hurricane Katrina was a catalyst for me to create the future Central CA Animal Disaster Team. Even now, it still makes me incredibly sad about the lost lives of the people and those thousands of pets. However in their memory, it propels us forward to continue to educate our animal owners in the Central Valley to HAVE A PLAN and BE PREPARED! - Naomi Tobias, CEO

SHOW YOUR LOVE FOR YOUR DOG(S)! Today is National Dog Day and it is about celebrating the joy and companionship our dogs bring into our lives. It highlights the roles that dogs play in our society, including working dogs that assist in law enforcement, therapy, and disability support. Established in 2004 by animal advocate Colleen Paige, it also serves as a reminder of the many dogs that need to be rescued from shelters.

Today, we celebrate the birthday of another dedicated volunteer, Dennis from Fresno County! For nine years, Dennis has been a crucial part of CCADT, helping people and animals affected by fires and disasters in the Central Valley.

When he's not volunteering, Dennis enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, engaging in Amateur Radio, and volunteering for the radio group for “Cycle Rides” (150 miles in the mountains).

Dennis continuously hones his skills by taking many of CCADT’s additional animal workshops.

When a deployment call comes in, Dennis is usually the first out the door, bringing our CCADT trailers to our Emergency Animal Shelters and ensuring their safe return upon closing.

Thank you, Dennis, for your incredible dedication and hard work! May your special day be filled with joy and sunshine.

Over the past month, we’ve opened 6 Emergency Animal Shelters (EAS), including two for the current Borel Fire in Kern County, now over 50,000 acres. With increasing evacuations and residents losing homes, these flames pull at both our heartstrings and purse strings.

As a 100% non-profit volunteer organization, we rely on contributions to care for these precious displaced animals. Our volunteers provide comfort and care, but we need your help. Any size donation is appreciated to aid companion pets, livestock, and equine supplies during these disasters.

Please visit our website at https://ccadt.org/donate.

THANK YOU for your support AND to our volunteers who bring some form of peace and comfort to displaced residents during these difficult times. Together we are STRONGER!
