A few years ago Ms. Hil was at the feed store and saw a little pekin duckling that ran right to her hand when she put it in the little pen of ducklings. She scooped him up and brought him home. We had lost our beloved Caspian only a few months before, and the kids at HTF were missing having a duck. Comet grew up surrounded by our students and animals. Comet loved being the center of attention on the farm. He could often be found in the doorway of a stall while someone groomed a horse. Last May, the day after Hil’s mom had open heart surgery, Comet had a run in with a dog that almost ended him. Through prayer, help from a wonderful vet tech, and lots of bandaging over a couple months, he survived what we were afraid would kill him. But Comet had a will to live, and overcame the unthinkable. Comet loved visiting with clients at HTF and waddling around the farm from puddle to puddle after a soaking rain. Sadly, Comet’s body was beginning to decline. Today we said so long to our beloved Pekin, Comet.
