This is "Lumpy." (Her name was Riley when she came to us, but we already had an Eyely and the rhyming names got confusing.) She is sweet as can be. She likes other Jack Russells, children, and to be glued to your hip. She's spayed. Best guess is that she's about 8, which means she has another whole half of life to go. She is easy to live with and never a bother. If you would like to give her a chance, let me know, but serious inquiries only. We're talking about a sweet little spirit here that only wants a safe place and lots of love and fun.

Ranger Ready Nelson DeMille made the news, and not in a good way. The area where his owners live in Alaska was hit by an “atmospheric river,” causing all kinds of landslide damage with the fear of a possible tsunami. Fortunately, no tsunami, but while his owners were packing for evacuation, Nelson worked a bone... My hats are off to his wonderful owners and the celeb veterinarian who stepped in out of the goodness of her heart to set up a doggy emergency field hospital to try and save Nelly’s life. 😘🐶🏔

This is why Ranger Ready Jack Russell Terriers recommends waiting until the dog has “finished” before considering spaying or neutering. You will see final growth in the head and other areas at about 18 months. Then and only then should you go ahead with any planned spay or neuter. You want your Ranger to look studly! 😂

These are littermates - one was neutered pediatrically, the other left intact. Notice the permanent puppy-like body of the dog on the left. His head is narrow, his chest is narrow, his angulation is bad, he's taller than he is long because growth plates don't get the proper signals from testosterone or estrogen on when to close. This is what pediatric neuter does to your dog. It leaves them more susceptible to an incredible amount of health issues (joint issues, multiple types of cancer). Meanwhile, the only fact in favor of early neutering is to prevent unwanted litters which can be prevented by not letting your dog roam - something we should already be on top of as responsible dog owners. Dogs need hormones to grow and mature properly. Do your dog a favor and wait until he's completely matured before neutering!

Ranger Ready Benjamin Church (Massachusetts people will know their colonial history 😉) got recycled, which in Army parlance means he had to repeat a block of instruction. He is doing fantastic! He will need a country home, and another Jack on the premises would be fine by him. He will need a relaxed, steady and consistent Jack-savvy hand that is willing to continue his training. He is the most affectionate dog of the litter TO HIS PEOPLE! He’s not a party dog. He’d do well as a farm, ranch or homestead hand, and, if pursued or desired, could make an exceptional performance dog with the right human partner. He is an extremely quick learner, even with boring relaxation protocols, which I’m doing with all my dogs for good measure. If you’d like to learn more about Ben, you’ll have to private message, because he handles all his own transactions. 🤷🏻‍♀️ RLTW! 😘🐶

Aaaaand, the drumstick goes to Ranger Ready James “Nikki” Rowe. (Ok, so he wasn’t a Ranger, but he did go to Ranger School. He just didn’t make it and went on to become a hero to Special Forces and everyone who served in the Armed Forces. We can all relate to failure—it makes you stronger.) Its nice to have a clean setup each day, but don’t let your breeder fool you, litter will be kicked around, drinks spilled, accidents will happen and it’ll look like a war zone by the time your breeder lays his or her head down—just keeping it real! RLTW! P.S. TJ Maxx has great dog toys for short money, but it’s catch as catch can.

I’m so honored that a brother wanted a Ranger Ready pup, and not just any one—this particular one! May Kelli, Mike and little Finn have a wonder-filled, adventurous life together! CPT Lynch had military dogs under his command as an MP officer and even had three Jack Russells in his life. Kelli works for the government and telecommutes so she’ll be home with Finn. Ranger Ready pups had a terrific interaction with three breeds yesterday. A major thank you to South Paw Natural Pets, LLC for hosting and to Miss. Gina for bringing her well-adjusted dog. Jacks tend to get along with other jacks—unless they don’t, which is another post entirely—but they need a lifetime of controlled, positive socialization to be trustworthy with other breeds. This is why breeding for temperament is so important. Knowing that the dam is a highly driven hunter, we travelled first from Mass. to Ohio to breed with Forget-Me-Not Teller, a calm and relaxed gentleman, and then from Georgia to Texas to breed with River Bottom Heart O’Stone, another calm and relaxed gentleman. Interestingly, two of the four pups at first were barky. We gave them a timeout and re-introduced them to the group to the same result. Fortunately, the three other dogs were calm and confident and let the unsure dogs work out their issues. Within a matter of a few minutes, the barking stopped and all were mixing and mingling! It takes a village!! RLTW—and, hey talk about a fiesty, non-social group 😂🤣😂!! Diamond Gates Zuzu’s Petals by River Bottom Heart O’Stone, 11 1/2 weeks! 😘🐶🐶🐶🐶

It’s great to have a safe male on the premises. Ranger Ready Nicholas Irving (Irv) is teaching the pups about getting along in the dog world. They also have a play date set with a safe large-breed dog coming up, followed by meeting some horses and farm animals! 😘🐶🇺🇸☀️⚡️⭐️🇺🇸
