Great outlook on life.

Today I adopted a human...
"It broke my heart to see him so alone and confused. I suddenly saw his watery eyes as he looked into mine. So I barked with all my might and went after him, the following from house to house. Finally, I got close enough to touch his hand with my nose. The man smiled and I felt his cold heart begin to warm.
I moved closer to his face and felt his tears start to flow. I looked at him and he replied with a beautiful smile. I jumped into his lap excitedly, promising that I would be fine, that I would love him forever, and that I would never leave him. How lucky that he passed by where I was and that we could meet like that. I felt lucky too.
So many people have been there, but only he, only he, looked at me. I'm glad he made a choice and that I was able to save his life.
I adopted a person."

To you, I may look like a Black and White vision, common as muck, a mere farmyard addition,
Be aware, work is my life, my passion my tradition, I’m just herding these woollies, avoiding collision.
I move to the left, I feign to the right, the sheep see me coming, so they group up in fright.
I move like a cat, my nose close to the ground, Collie-eye on the sheep, not making a sound.

The heart of a wolf beats hard in my chest, the shepherd, he whistles, but I always know best.
I gather, I pen, I drive and I shed, whilst most ‘mere’ dogs, are curled up in their bed
This dawn is my time, the dusk is the end.... uphill, down dale, across river, round bend,
I live for my work, food and bed not for me, running all day, until it’s time for my tea.

I’m a one person dog, just my Shepherd and me, friendship, trust and of course, loyalty.
Those are the bywords that built our respect, the feeling is mutual, which is why we connect.
He can’t work without me, I can’t live without him, our bond is of concrete, not built on a whim.
When our work is done, and the days at an end, he pats me, I lick him, my two legged friend.

When my time comes to leave, I’ve had more joy than strife, chasing Sheep, running free, with my Shepherd, my life.
I know that he’ll cry, and that saddens my heart, but on those green rolling hills, we shall never be apart,
For I shall howl with the wind, I shall bark at the moon, and we’ll Shepherd our Sheep, some sunny afternoon.
