At last, thanks to the Animal Legal Defense Fund and your support, the animals once held at Animaland Zoo in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania will get the lives they deserve. All of the animals at Animaland were suffering physically and psychologically.

Thank you Ames Fire Department for spending 30 minutes to revive this families' cat, Cleo. You treated this cat the way she deserves to be treated- part of the family.

"Firefighters from Ames, Iowa were able to revive a cat that was rescued from a house fire on Monday.

The cat, named Cleo, was found unresponsive, surrounded by thick black smoke in the basement of the burning house. Firefighters worked for over 30 minutes to revive the cat using a specialized oxygen mask for animals."

In July of 2016, Rhode Island became first state to enact a statewide bullhook ban. Just this week, California became the second as Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bullhook ban into law. The Gov. vetoed it in 2014-2015 (but apparently no time was lost since it doesn't go into effect until 2018).

"Dogs labeled as pit bulls stay in animal shelters for three times as long as lookalikes and are more likely to face euthanasia, according to research released today from Arizona State University. In light of the fact that 50 percent of shelter dogs classified as pit bulls are actually lookalikes, the new findings suggest human bias may inadvertently breed death sentences for some abandoned pooches.."

Beauty doesn't have to be cruel. There are MANY other great cosmetic brands who do NOT test on animals and proudly sport the "Cruelty free" icon on their packaging. Sadly, every product sold in China (by law) has to be tested on animals.

Seventy-three (73 out of 80) legislators signed on this afternoon to co-author House Resolution 28! Social Compassion In Legislation (SCIL) sponsored HR 28 to encourage compliance with California's current education code to teach students the principles of kindness and respect for animals and observance of laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the humane treatment of animals.

Finally, the judicial system is treating animal abuse like the horrific crime it is. An animal abuser is always an abuser of humans too.
On Monday, February 1st, Hill entered a surprise guilty plea. Ontario court Justice Micheline Rawlins sentenced him to 2 years in federal prison, with an additional 3 years of probation. He is not allowed to own, or even live with, animals for the next 25 years after his release. It's no surprise, he has a laundry list of previous arrest and convictions.
