AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE Breed Rescue. Rehoming displaced Corgis, both Cardigans and Pembrokes We adopt to Arizona families. WE ALSO NEED FOSTER HOMES!

If interested in adopting, please review our adoption process:
http://www.azcactuscorgirescue.com/adoptionprocess.aspx AZ Cactus Corgi Rescue is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization that is foster-based. You can donate here: http://azcactuscorgirescue.com/donate.aspx TAX DEDUCTIBLE! THE ONLY WAY TO FOSTER/ADOPT ANY DOG FROM AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE IS TO FILL OUT OUR ONLINE APPLICATION AND BE FULLY

APPROVED (ARIZONA RESIDENTS ONLY). Learn more here: http://azcactuscorgirescue.com/adoptionprocess.aspx

We are ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES! When we are contacted about a Corgi in need (lost or owner surrendered) we need for that Corgi to go into a foster home first. All dogs are provided with and immediate check-up and medical attention if necessary. They will then go to a pre-approved foster home, where their personalities will be fully vetted in order for them to be placed/adopted into the right home. Many of our pre-approved foster homes end up "failing" and have the first right of adoption! We ENCOURAGE anyone interested in adopting one of our Corgis to pro-actively fill out the online application http://azcactuscorgirescue.com/adoptionprocess.aspx since most times, those that are approved, will have the first chance of adopting new rescues that come in.

🐾AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE's 2024 FOSTER TO ADOPT/ADOPTION REVIEW!🐾

In mid December AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE was contacted by a good Samaritan who 2 weeks prior had found a female Corgi. The finders did all the right things to try to find the owners but had no luck and were unable to keep her any longer. So we reached out to one of our long term fosters, who was already at near capacity, but asked if they could please squeeze in one more so we could ensure she was safe? Of course they said they would make it work🙏

When they received this precious girl, they had the privilege of naming her, and she is now Miss Olive😘 After her successful recovery from being spayed, we reached out to one of AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE’s pre-approved applicants, Caitlyn. She had lost her previous Corgi a year ago and was finally ready for a new Corgi friend. Olive was available and it was love at first site for both of them❤️

Congrats to Miss Olive for having her furever home and living her best life!🥰😍

❤️POST ALERT: AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE feel good story from our Director❤️

Two weeks ago we were contacted about helping to fulfill a bucket list request for Myka, a sweet 16 year old young lady. She had never met a Corgi in person but loves them dearly❤️ Her wish was to pet and play with a Corgi. After some thought for which AZCCR alum would be best for this assignment, I contacted Jill, she adopted Billee from us 3 years ago.

Jill has since trained Billee to get him certified as a Therapy Dog through Banner Hospitals. He visits both Thunderbird and Boswell Hospitals, comforting both patients and the caring nursing staff. Billee also attends Peoria Library once a month where he sits and listens (and gets extra pets) as the children read out loud to him. Corgis are such loving dogs. After further reflection, we knew Billee would be our best ambassador for Myka’s “mission.”😘

Jill, myself and Billee went to visit Myka. Billee did what he does best when he senses someone in need of his love and in return, he enjoyed the attention and petting. When Myka would stop, he would look up lovingly at her with those big Corgi eyes that did the explaining for him: “please, you need to resume petting.”🥰

Both Myka and Billee enjoyed their visit together and Billee has plans to return to visit her again. He also left Myka with a Corgi Squishy to snuggle when he can’t be there with her and a smaller stuffed Corgi, as well as his much sought after trading card.🤗

Please keep Myka in your thoughts and prayers.🙏❤️

🐾Join AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE in celebrating the very special BARKDAY of our beloved mascot SCOOTER!🐾

Below are special wishes from his mom, AZCCR’s Director, that took Scooter in as a pup when it was unknown at the time as to why his back legs weren’t working. With much patience🙏, diligence, therapy and LOVE❤️, he’s come a very long way and has been living his best life! Please check out the post below, and photos of “From Then to Now” and wish Scooter a very happy and joyful new year!🥳🤩🥰

Happy How Can it Be? 6th Birthday to my Scooter! You've come such a long way buddy! To see you up on all 4's "walking" and bunny hopping most of the time is so miraculous! You are such a fun and loving little guy! Mom and Dad love you but ask one favor, can you now get a Big Boy Bark, the puppy scream is SOOO yesterday🤣 Love you Scooter!💕🐾💕🥳

🐾AZ Cactus Corgi Rescue's 2024 FOSTER TO ADOPT/ADOPTION REVIEW!🐾

Freya (now Maggie) came to us in mid December as an owner surrender—she was the sweetest 2 year old girl❤️ Her owner had back surgery and had a long way to recovery and couldn’t give Freya the time/care she needed. A previous AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE adopter offered to foster-to-adopt Freya after we reached out to them knowing that they were missing their last Corgi in the home. They fell in love the moment they laid eyes on Freya, just like we did, and now she is Maggie and continuing her best life!😍🥰❤️

🐾AZ Cactus Corgi Rescue's 2024 FOSTER TO ADOPT/ADOPTION REVIEW!🐾

Calvin came to us in early November. He's a sweet boy that was scared of the young children in his home. His owners were concerned it could escalate to nipping. When he came into foster, he was very well-behaved and adjusted quickly. After vetting, Calvin was quickly scooped up by one of AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE's past adopters, as they had recently lost their Corgi that was one of our alum and were suffering the “empty nest” of no Corgi in the home. They met Calvin and the rest is history, he was officially adopted at the end of November! Thank you Diane for falling in love with our Calvin and giving him a great life!!😍🥰

🐾AZ Cactus Corgi Rescue's 2024 FOSTER TO ADOPT/ADOPTION REVIEW!🐾

Rosie is a sweet little 3 year old who was surrendered due to “too much energy” in October. We had received an application from someone and contacted them to see if they were interested in doing a foster-to-adopt. They had plenty of Corgi experience and thru our conversations with them, we found out more about their experience and home environment—we then explained our foster-to-adopt program which includes understanding how the Corgi will fit in to your home, your ability and flexibility to take the dog to our vet as needed, and evaluate the Corgi’s personality (i.e. their likes, dislikes, fears, aggression etc.). Well, Miss Rosie was cleared through vetting and she worked her magic— in November she was formally adopted by her foster parents!🥳 She now goes by Miss Daisy and is living her best life❤️

Thank you Ken and Linda for falling in love with her!!🥰😍 Don’t let her tire you out too much!!😄

🐾AZ Cactus Corgi Rescue's 2024 FOSTER TO ADOPT/ADOPTION REVIEW!🐾

AZ Cactus Corgi Rescue's three girls from Texas— Opal, Pearl and Pixie, have ALL been vetted and adopted!😍

These three were from a “Breeder” who overbred and had no life experiences other than having puppies😡 Each of them are scared of many things such as hiding, bonding with only one person and feeling safe only in their special person’s presence.

However, we were fortunate enough to find 3 separate adopters who are loving each of our precious girls and bringing them out of their shells and showing them a life they never would have had. Way to go Girls!!🥰🤩

🐾AZ Cactus Corgi Rescue's 2024 FOSTER TO ADOPT/ADOPTION REVIEW!🐾

Phinnegan, was a stray AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE took in as an emergency. He was in very bad shape, very thin, loaded with ticks, and not holding food down. We had to put a plea out for a foster so we could help this boy! We were grateful to be connected with John and Julie through Corgi Town founder Candie, (God Bless You for answering your phone that day!) as we had NO ONE available to foster.

John and Julie have taken great care of Phinnegan, back and forth to the vet, helping him recover after his neuter, talking with Vicki (AZCCR’s Director) on an almost daily basis for the first month, meeting with her to pick up items for Phinnegan— we have all been through it with Phinn and he has a special place in all our hearts🥰

Phinn worked his magic and John and Julie couldn’t let him go elsewhere, so they decided to adopt him...YAY Phinn, way to work that Corgi Magic! What a handsome boy you have grown to be while living your best life!!😍💕

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT HAS RECENTLY FILLED OUT AN APPLICATION TO FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT (Definition at bottom of this post). WE’VE HAD AN OVERWHELMING RESPONSE!🙏🥳 We will be going through each of them to ensure viability, however, please be patient with us if you do not hear from us immediately, as it does take time to review..

Safe and loving foster homes are key to AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE’S success. If you'd like to learn more, check out the attachment and read a few key questions below that you should first think about.

POINTS TO THINK ABOUT FIRST!
1. Are you able to separate the foster pets from your own?
2. All dogs have their quirks, snd some of them are the reason they are surrendered to rescue.
3. Are you able to return the foster once a forever home has been found?
4. How flexible is your schedule?

What AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE provides:
All Medical Care
Crates or Exercise Pens
Food
Collar, Leash and Bowls (if needed)

DEFINITION OF AZCCR'S FOSTER-TO-ADOPT (APPLICATION):
On our standard Adoption application, write in "Foster-To-Adopt" where it asks "Dog interested in."

Foster-to-Adopt means you bring into your home a Corgi that has come to AZ Cactus Corgi as a rescue. We can't accept a Corgi that needs to be rescued without an available Foster. You'll be responsible to take the Corgi to our designated vet for medical treatments/tests, etc. We need for you to Love❤️ and evaluate the Corgi's personality/actions for us (vetting). Once the dog is thru vetting and ready to be adopted, the Foster gets first choice to adopt or not. If not, the foster is responsible to keep the dog until proper (best match for humans/Corgi) adoptive home is found.

Lulu (now Valkyrie) was a 9 month old owner surrender in August. She stayed with our foster family while being spayed and vetted and during one of her trips to our Vet’s office, the receptionist “connected” with her and fell deeply in love!! In September, once she had healed and was available and ready to go, she was adopted and Lulu is now Valkyrie! Thank you Jacqueline for loving her so!!😍🥰

Squishy was brought in as an owner surrender from Northern Arizona in July. Fortunately, we had a foster home she was able to go to as a safe holding place for vetting and evaluation while we got to know her personality since we were busy working with other Corgis that came in before her. As good luck would have it, Squishy’s foster Mom fell in love with her and in October she was officially adopted by Tracy, one of AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE’s Corgi re-adopters, an AZ CACTUS CORGI RESCUE bonus when you’re a foster, you have the opportunity to *officially adopt the Corgi before anyone else! We love our re-adopters!! If you’d like to consider fostering or foster-to-adopt, you can apply directly here: Here’s the link to apply: http://azcactuscorgirescue.com/adoptionprocess.aspx

It's not the 4th of July but in many places, like Phoenix, they have fireworks to celebrate the New Year and even a few nights before and after.

Please be thoughtful of your fur kids and heed the safety precautions to keep them safe and prevent them from running off and getting lost because they're scared of the noise!

MAKE SURE YOUR OUTSIDE GATES ARE SECURELY CLOSED OR LOCKED!
Let's start 2025 off right, NO LOST PETS! 😘

3️⃣ Make sure your home and yard are secure so your pet can’t get out
4️⃣ Give them a safe place in the house to retreat to
5️⃣ Dress for success (Provide snug-fitting clothing, like a thundershirt or using an ace bandage)
6️⃣ Replace scary sounds with soothing sounds
7️⃣ Occupy them with toys or stimulating games

Our Story

Our mission is to rehabilitate and re-home displaced Welsh Corgis, both Pembroke and Cardigan. We believe corgis deserve a second chance. We get our Corgis into rescue in various ways. We adopt them from shelters, network with other rescues to have them come to us and we have owners, who for various reasons are unable to take care of their corgi for any longer, turn them over to us. Our corgis are all examined by a veterinarian, have blood work performed to check for any problems, dentals performed, if needed, and are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, if needed. They receive all of their vaccinations, heartworm preventative and flea/tick preventative while in our care. Every corgi we receive in becomes a part of us and we take care of each of them just as if they were one of our own.

If you’re interested in adopting an AZCCR Corgi, you MUST follow our adoption process. Please learn about it here, along with the adoption application which can be filled out online. Adoption process here: http://www.azcactuscorgirescue.com/adoptionprocess.aspx
