@blairimani Swing states! The Electoral College! Let’s get Smarter in Seconds filmed on location in Madison, Wisconsin with a cameo from @ollierose_ 🔴💜🔵
There are seven swing states in the United States. They include Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Depending on the year they could go red or they could go blue. This year we don’t really know which way they’ll go which is why there are so many efforts to canvass, write letters, make calls, and encourage our loved ones in these states to make their voices heard!
EXTRA CREDIT 📝 Did you learn anything new? Should I film more Smarter in Seconds episodes on location? How many electors does your state have? Are you in a swing state?

@blairimani *comments off from 11 PM PST to 10 AM PST* Hispanic and Latino featuring @veroocampos, @adisabledicon and @asif.tv for Hispanic Heritage Month ✨
In the context of identity Hispanic describes people who come from a primarily Spanish-speaking country like Spain, and all the nations that Spain colonized.
Latino refers to people from Latin America, and comes from a shortening of the Spanish word Latinoamericano. Latin America consists of Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean Islands.
Latino focuses more on geography and shared cultural heritage rather than the languages spoken.
Both “Hispanic” and “Latino” are umbrella terms that refer to broad regions, and countless cultures, communities, ethnicities, races, and more. You can be Hispanic and Latino, Hispanic and not Latino, or Latino and not Hispanic.
And the gender-neutral “Latine” was created by queer and trans Spanish speakers who wanted to replace the gendered “latino” and “latina.” “Latinx” or “Latin-equis” are also used for this purpose but have not been as widely received within communities.
These terms may seem simple, but they represent the diverse identities and experiences of millions of people.
So, understanding and using them correctly is one of many steps we can take to show respect.
EXTRA CREDIT 📝 Why is it important to understand these differences and nuances? Did you learn anything new?
Thanks to all that stopped by our booth and attended our happy hour meetup at @aabp_vets 2024, and to all that gave us such a warm welcome. We love our new and longtime friends and colleagues!
