The office will be closed for LABOR DAY 9/2/24. Dr. Goode will not be available from 9/4/24 through 9/10/24. If you need prescription refills or feel you need to make an appointment, call 719-924-8969 as soon as possible. The office will be TOTALLY closed on Thursday, 09/05/2024 and also on Tuesday, 09/10/2024. If you need prescription food, please call in ASAP as we order by noon on Tuesday’s. There will be no food order placed on 09/10/2024.

The same holds true for their health care. Just because you want a companion animal, doesn’t mean you should acquire one. It is a financial and time commitment. Health care is becoming more expensive every day. Please get Pet Health Insurance. Be aware, if you adopt an older pet, just like in human health care, insurance will not cover pre-existing conditions.

Think about your ability to care for the pet you choose for your family. Some breeds require a lot more care and financial responsibility than others. Don’t blindly choose! Always choose to get PET HEALTH INSURANCE these days. If you can’t afford the insurance, perhaps you should reconsider acquiring a companion animal. Medical care for companion animals is continuing to rise, just like for humans.

Yes, we are still trying to help NEW clients with veterinary needs. We do charge our office visit exam fee at the time you make an appointment to AVOID spaces where we could help someone if you do not show up. This office visit exam fee is NONE-REFUNDABLE for THAT reason. We had a new client this morning that had a 9:30 AM appointment, that showed up a little early. He got irritated because he had to fill out paper work, and our doctor was not in the office or was just arriving. He also forgot his glasses and indicated he could not see to fill out paperwork. If he couldn’t see to fill out paperwork, how could he drive? Anyway, our staff even indicated that he could go home and get his glasses and come back, but instead HE chose to walk out on the appointment. Later he called wanting his money back, which we refused to provide. I am sure you will see an ugly Facebook post! Just keep in mind, he possibly cheated someone out of care they needed, plus it makes us more inclined NOT to accept new clients. Then the public wonders WHY veterinarians are NOT accepting NEW clients. Think about this please! We will not tolerate rude and irresponsible clients.

Dr. Goode is out of the office and out of the area until Monday. He is attending continued education at CSU Fort Collins through Sunday.

As a reminder, there is Rattlesnake Vaccine available. It takes two injections three to four weeks apart, then it is a yearly booster usually in March or early April. If your companion does get bitten, you still need to make a vet visit to prevent infection, etc. but it cuts the cost of treatment and in many cases, saves your companions life. There have been
several reports of companions making contact with rattlesnakes in yards already this month. Call 719-924-8969 if you want an appointment to vaccinate your companion. Please be careful with your children too, snakes do not know it is your yard!

We are so glad to be able to provide care for your companions again. Thank you for your patience and understanding that Dr. Goode lives near the Wet Mountains and could not get in last Thursday and Friday due to over twenty inches of snow. We are back up and running this week.

It is still snowing where Dr. Goode lives, and there is another three to four inches of snow on top of what had already been received. The road to the Interstate had not been cleared yet, so there is no way he can get in to the office today, 03/15/2024. We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank all those clients who were scheduled for their understanding. We will be calling you to schedule you in ASAP.

Please be aware that our Doctor lives down close to Colorado City near the Wet Mountains. He did try to make it in 03/14/2024. Due to the fact that there is approximately fifteen inches of snow on the ground where he lives and the roads have not been cleared there is a strong possibility he will not be in tomorrow. They are to receive another five to seven inches tonight in that area. If you have an appointment on 03/15/2024, please call the office before attempting to come in. If there is no answer, it means our Doctor and staff could not get in. We will call and reschedule your appointment ASAP on Monday.

Due to inclement weather, our Doctor was unable to make it in to the hospital today. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This is only the second time this has happened in fifteen years.

Thank you to our patients and their owners for understanding that we have been absent from our hospital several days. We are trying to get an estate settled for parents in Iowa. Our office manager will be gone some in April and our doctor will be out again the end of May/first of June. Thank you for your understanding!
