🌍 Wild Spirit Wildlife Veterinary Program: 2024 Season Concluded 🦁🐘🐃🦓🦏
After 90 intense days of fieldwork across nature reserves in South Africa, with veterinarians, students, and nurses from all over the world (USA, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Colombia, Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, Lithuania, Great Britain, Australia, Poland, Norway, Estonia, Trinidad & Tobago, and more), we’re proud to share our accomplishments! 🙌💚

At our wildlife vet programs, we’ve supported the vital work of reputable lion rescue centres in South Africa over the years. In addition to our veterinary work, our goal is to create a professional, experience-based knowledge awareness that has a worldwide impact, empowering our delegates to make a difference.

Despite the challenges in this country, ethical lion centres stand out for their refusal to breed lions in captivity. The reason is stark: with over 5,000 captive lions in South Africa alone, the harsh reality is that they cannot be reintroduced into the wild. In contrast, there are only 25,000 lions left in the wild across the entire continent.

The crucial work of reputable lion rescue centres like Animal Defenders International and Lion Foundation provides a safe haven for captive lions that have suffered abuse. As veterinary professionals, our role encompasses not only animal health but also animal welfare and conservation.

We want to extend our gratitude to Dr Peter Caldwell, , a true pioneer and inspiration in our field. His tireless dedication to animal welfare and conservation has set a high standard for us all. By opening doors to new circumstances and pushing boundaries, he has empowered us to continue making a difference. We honor his legacy and are committed to carrying forward his passion for creating positive change in the lives of these incredible creatures.

Now, it’s up to our students and their generation to continue making a difference. The power is in their hands! Let’s work together to positively impact the lives of these majestic creatures!
