At our wildlife vet programs, we’ve supported the vital work of reputable lion rescue centres in South Africa over the years. In addition to our veterinary work, our goal is to create a professional, experience-based knowledge awareness that has a worldwide impact, empowering our delegates to make a difference.

Despite the challenges in this country, ethical lion centres stand out for their refusal to breed lions in captivity. The reason is stark: with over 5,000 captive lions in South Africa alone, the harsh reality is that they cannot be reintroduced into the wild. In contrast, there are only 25,000 lions left in the wild across the entire continent.

The crucial work of reputable lion rescue centres like Animal Defenders International and Lion Foundation provides a safe haven for captive lions that have suffered abuse. As veterinary professionals, our role encompasses not only animal health but also animal welfare and conservation.

We want to extend our gratitude to Dr Peter Caldwell, , a true pioneer and inspiration in our field. His tireless dedication to animal welfare and conservation has set a high standard for us all. By opening doors to new circumstances and pushing boundaries, he has empowered us to continue making a difference. We honor his legacy and are committed to carrying forward his passion for creating positive change in the lives of these incredible creatures.

Now, it’s up to our students and their generation to continue making a difference. The power is in their hands! Let’s work together to positively impact the lives of these majestic creatures!

At our Wildlife Vet Program by , We recently had an exciting opportunity to capture and anaesthetize an elephant for solar GPS tracking placement. 🐘 This procedure required a great deal of teamwork and coordination. As wildlife veterinarians, our main goal is to protect and care for our wild patients, and this task was no exception.

I am incredibly fortunate to have an amazing team of professionals and compassionate individuals who I am proud to call my colleagues, Dr Brendan Tindall and Santell Knoetze, they have been instrumental in the success of this project, and I am grateful for their expertise and unwavering dedication 🩺⚕️💚

This procedure was the first time ever made in an elephant!!! Idea 💡 and procedure by Dr Tindall 👨‍⚕️.

In addition to our core team, we have also had the privilege of hosting passionate international veterinarians and students. Their presence serves as a constant reminder of the profound impact we can make through our work in capacity building within the veterinary field. 🌍🌱

I want to express my deepest appreciation to everyone involved in this endeavor. Without your unwavering support and invaluable contributions, none of this would be possible. Together, we are making a significant difference in wildlife conservation. Thank you. 🙏🦁🌿

🦁 Today's update at our Wildlife Vet Program by thewildspirit.com 🌿

We are thrilled to share with you the latest development in our conservation efforts! Our dedicated team has successfully tracked and collared a magnificent lioness at the Welgevonden Game Reserve, a sprawling 36,000-hectare natural reserve. 🐾

This activity holds immense importance for both the management and conservation of our precious wildlife. By collaring the lioness, we gain valuable insights into her movements, behavior, and interactions with her environment. This data allows us to make informed decisions to protect and preserve the delicate balance of our ecosystem. 🌍

One of the key benefits of this initiative is the mitigation of wildlife-human conflict. By closely monitoring the lioness's movements, we can identify potential areas of conflict and take proactive measures to prevent any harm to both wildlife and local communities. This collaring program plays a crucial role in fostering harmony between humans and wildlife, ensuring a sustainable coexistence for all. 🤝

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr Peter Caldwell, the brilliant vet in charge of this procedure, for his expertise and dedication. His unwavering commitment to wildlife conservation is truly commendable. We would also like to acknowledge Dr Brendan Tindall and Dr Fabiola Quesada for their leadership in spearheading this initiative. Their passion for protecting our natural heritage is an inspiration to us all. 🙌

Stay tuned for more updates on our Wildlife Vet Program as we continue to work tirelessly towards the preservation of our wildlife and the conservation of our beautiful planet. Together, we can make a difference! 🌿🦁🌍
