Happy Thanksgiving from the members of the PWCCR! Whatever sort of delicious food you eat, here's a list of things you can and can't share with your pups.
Another warning to keep in mind: when you finish a bag of chips, or have other empty plastic bags that held food, make sure you cut the bottom of the bag vertically before you leave it in the trash. All too often dogs have suffocated while licking out bags.
Be safe, eat hearty, and hug your dogs!❤️

Our sweet and feisty Willow, the rescue corgi with erosive arthritis, was gently helped to a place without pain Tuesday. She made a huge impact on so many people with her indomitable spirit and her happy, loving, personality. Many, many thanks are due to Dr Lindsey Fry and the staff at Red Sage Integrative Veterinary Partners for Willow's last six magical months. She loved her treatments and especially the giant frosted chocolate cupcake she got to snarf today!

Serene and Connie provided Willow with more love and adventures (and this week, cheeseburgers!) when they took her on as hospice mommies. I can't thank them enough!

More thanks are due to the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Rockies for funding Willow's initial veterinary care and diagnosis. Responsible breeders support rescue!

The best months of Willow's 4 1/2 years of life would not have been possible without the grant by CorgiAid which funded her care for her lifetime. She loved running in her cart, all her treatments and all her Veterinary friends. The last six months of Willow's life were as pain free as was humanly possible. We all wish that lifetime had been longer, but it was such a blessing to not have to run Go Fund Me campaigns or otherwise beg for money. If you have a few dollars to spare, now or in the future, please donate to www.corgaid.com in honor of Willow or a another beloved pet.

Please hug all your pets for me tonight and give them an extra snack from Willow💔

Remember rescue dog Willow, 4yo female corgi with immune Mediated PolyAthrits? (Basically no joints.) She got a new used quad cart and Doggon Wheels did some adaptation for her tiny 16lb frame.
She's doing terrific, aided by the best dang rehab team in the country. (IMHO!) All thanks to the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Rockies and CorgiAid for paying her bills❤️ I hope this makes you smile as big as it did me! Remember to donate to rescue when you have a few dollars to spare.

EDIT: Bad news friends, I won't be able to attend the specialty Friday after all. Don't be shy though, reach out to the folks at the hospitality and raffle tables! There will be a lot of fun corgi themed items and baskets, supporting the club and especially rescue❤️

Mark your calendars and join us at the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Rockies annual show! Friday August 16th 2024 at Island Grove Park in Greeley, from 9am to 2pm. I'm sorry, you'll have to leave your dogs at home. By AKC rule, no unentered dogs are allowed on the show grounds.

You'll see dozens of beautiful corgis strutting their stuff, from puppies to seniors, and the junior handlers will WOW you!
There will also be a raffle to benefit Corgi rescue as well as a silent auction.

None of the dogs there will be for sale! Please wait to talk with the breeders present until they've finished showing and are hanging around chatting.

I love to talk shows and Corgis, ask for Julie and someone will point me out, come say hi and I'll show you around😊
Here's a photo of Jasper and I so you can find me.

Willow update!
It's with profound gratitude that I share the news with you all that Princess Wills has received a major disability grant from the amazing folks at CorgiAid, Inc.
This grant means that CA will cover ALL her expenses, for her entire lifetime❤️
Please, if you have a few dollars to spare, donate to CorgiAid! They're a registered 501(c)3 organization and have been paying for medical treatments for Corgis and corgi mixes since 2016.
Willow says a big WOOF thank you!!

What is IMPA?
Meet Willow, who is here to teach us about IMPA and to ask for help. She has Immune Mediated Polyarthitis, IMPA. Sadly, Princess Wills is afflicted with erosive IMPA, which means that over her 4 years of life her immune system has eaten away her joints. In spite of what has to be incredible pain, Willow is one of the sweetest happiest little Corgis ever (only 16 pounds!) with a wiggly little tail nubbin.
Please join Team Willow because "Where there's a Will, there's a Way!". So far funds have been committed to Willow's care by CorgiAid, Inc. and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Rockies but more is needed. Willow's Veterinary team includes Midtown Veterinary Partners, Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and Red Sage Integrative Veterinary Partners. The angels at Red Sage donated a brand new state of the art quad cart for Willow and will next be working on the custom orthotic braces she'll need.
Donations of any size would be gratefully received. If you'd like to send a check, please message Julie Yamane, Willow's care coordinator. Thank you!

Click on the link to find a plea from Colorado Corgis and Friends for a foster home. Thanks!

Howie is still in need of a metro Denver foster home. He's approx 3.5 years old, potty trained, and requires a fenced in yard. Howie is being surrendered because he doesn't get along with the new puppy. He does like his canine Corgi sister, so a chill canine companion would be best for Howie. Untested with cats and kids. If you can give Howie a soft place to land where he can run around and get plenty of exercise, please complete our foster application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms as the first step. Fosters get dibs on adopting.

Folks have been asking for Dante updates! He's doing great with his rehab, it's hard to keep a puppy quiet and on leash! (Video at link.) Foster mom shoveled out his potty area this morning.
Dante will not be available for adoption anytime soon, but there are other Colorado Corgis and Friends Rescue dogs!

It’s been one week since Dante was released from the hospital after his surgery. He’s doing great and wants to thank everyone for all the love and support! Many have been asking about the investigation and that’s not something we can comment on or have any say in or control over. We are focused on his recovery and hope that he never remembers any of the bad things that have happened to him. 🐾❤️

Wow! Update from CCFR regarding little Dante the corgi. Thank you all for donating!

YOU ALL ARE AMAZING!
In just over 24 hrs, we have met our initial goal for Dante. Once we get the vet invoices, we will post them. Thank you all for the shares, donations, and healing love and vibes sent his way. We will continue to post updates once he’s released and during his recovery. ❤️❤️🐾

Dante update from Colorado Corgis and Friends! Surgery went well. He has several pins that will hold his bones in place while he heals. His left leg was in worse shape than his right leg and he will begin pt immediately. We should find out later today when he gets to be released. We are not addressing any questions on his adoption status as he has a long road to recovery and will need to be neutered. Right now we’re focusing on getting him the care he needs. We will post the final invoices from the vets but we are not releasing their information as this is a pending criminal investigation. We have not reached our $5500 goal but we’re getting there. Thank you to all who donated. ❤️🐾

Rescue takes a village! Mid-afternoon on Wednesday 2/28 PWCCR rescue received an urgent request for help from a shelter south of Denver. The shelter vet recommended that little 5 month Dante be euthanized that very evening due to the extent of his injuries. Neither Lynn nor I could get down there to grab him in time but the wonderful folks at Colorado Corgis and Friends could and did!

Here's the update on Dante's condition today. His future is looking much brighter! Many thanks to the CCFR and please consider donating to the extensive surgery the darling little pup has undergone❤️

From Director Dawn (and yesterday was also her birthday!):

On top of the multiple owner surrenders that we have been drowning in the past few weeks, yesterday afternoon CCFR received an urgent request for a possible cruelty/abuse case on a 5 mos old Corgi puppy. Dante has bilateral femur fractures and multiple fractured (but healing) ribs. He was south and one of our super amazing fosters dropped her already busy schedule and went and picked him up for us and took him to the ER vet. He was transferred to an orthopedic vet this AM where he will be undergoing extensive surgery. At an expense that we could use your help with. We absolutely could not leave him in the shelter to suffer or be pts. Please consider donating to Dante’s care through our fundraiser here, Venmo (), or PayPal or Zelle ([email protected]). It is greatly appreciated. His prognosis is good and we’re all wishing him well and a speedy recovery. Donations are tax deductible. As always, thank you for your support.
