“Kiss the babies for me!”

Braille lost her grandmom yesterday. Our whole family is devastated. She was the matriarch, the one who taught Braille’s mommy how to care for her properly every day. Every single time we got off the phone or left her house I’d hear her sweet request: “Kiss the babies for me!”

In honor of Braille’s Grandmom, please kiss your fur babies. 81 years of pure, unwavering love for animals, fostering, and animal welfare donations. The world lost a beautiful animal advocate.

Please, kiss your babies for us. ❤️ Here she is with Braille.. and with her first rescue, off the streets of Philadelphia. Yes, she is the baby girl holding that cat in the photo.

Do not let her legacy go untold!!! Adopt, rescue, donate, and most importantly show LOVE and COMPASSION towards animals when you can. You might just end up with a furbaby that brings you joy every day of your life, like Braille does.

Happy Holidays from Braille to you! 😻 We learned this year that Braille loves the scent of the tree, but not bumping into the ornaments 😂 Here are a few pictures of her smellin’ that new tree before the decorations went on, and of course, a sleepy time picture of our favorite gal. Braille and her siblings will get so much love today 💞🎄

Scooter and I are finally home now. It’s been a very long day ..

“Case Summary: Examination
today revealed his historical hindlimb paralysis, but also a more subtle weakness and ataxia in his forelimbs which is new
for him. He was also noted to have an absent menace response and does not seem to track objects normally, which is concerning for blindness. These problems together would localize to a forebrain problem, and could be caused by many things such as a vascular event/stroke, cancer, infection, inflammation, or trauma. Scooter was also noted to have a new gallop rhythm on auscultation today. A proBNP test was performed and is suggestive of underlying heart disease, and a VCM was performed which was concerning for being
prone to clot formation (hypercoagulable). Given these findings, we discussed a heightened concern that his symptoms could be due to a vascular event, however MRI would still be needed to confirm this.”

So I have scooter and my bags packed for tomorrow, as we will be out the door very early in the morning to take him back to the vet so that I can work there all day while he is seen by the neurologist and the cardiologist tomorrow. Continued prayers are definitely needed right now. I hate knowing that he can only see shadows right now, but he smelled my hand and gave me a kiss on the face so he knows I’m right here…

Braille here, reporting that nothing has changed since my humans got married. 😌 I still hiss in my brother Spyro’s face when he gets too close and I still sleep next to my sister Lily… and follow her wherever she goes. My humans made sure I was well taken care of during their party, too!!!

Here are two pictures of Braille surprising us in the morning on the cat tree. “How did you get there?” are words spoken in our house very often 😹

On a health note, Braille has only had 4 seizures this year. One of those seizures was this morning but she recovered so well! This is a huge improvement from once every 3-4 weeks. Huge shoutout to her neurologist (Dr. Jenny Scarano) for being so gentle and observant with her, always.

Happy from the lovely Braille! She truly is a princess in this house. She gets to sleep wherever she wants, whenever she wants. No questions asked and no disturbances (unless it’s time for medicine)! Aspire to be like Braille! 😸

Braille just moved to a brand new house with Mommy and her sister Lily a week ago! She can already navigate almost the entire house. This is the biggest space she’s ever been in… but guess what?! No more stairs!! I think Braille is really happy about that 😸 Here is her happy face after getting head scritches at bed time. 🖤

A new surprise is coming for her this weekend when she gets to meet her new kitty brothers!! Of course, this will be a slow introduction. The boys are well behaved with special needs cats, as they’ve lived with them in the past. Updates to come once she’s met her new family members!

Braille spent the night with her Gigi and unfortunately had a “wonky” morning and may have had a seizure (or was building up to one). She was acting very strange. But when Mommy came home she perked up! Braille loves to turn in circles when she is really excited. Look at the happy baby!
