5 years ago this month I wrote and published my first book, The Lord's Prayer for Entrepreneurs. It was number one on Amazon for 1 week when it was released (Thanks Mom for buying all those copies). Over the last 5 years I have enjoyed using material from the book to have small group discussions and during covid I lead some Bible studies with it too over zoom calls. People ask me, was it hard to write a book and publish it? My answer, yes, but it was worth it. Another question: Would you write the same book if you had to do it over again? No, I am always reading and studying the Bible, listening to pastors from around the world, and learning from others. So one thing I tell people is that the moment you publish the book, its probably outdated. So it is a printed thing that is a timestamp on your thoughts, theories, ideas and theology at the moment. Hopefully we are all growing, learning and thinking differently as we are exposed to more information, wisdom and understanding. So I still love the book and the ideas but the purpose of a good book is to make you think, respond and act. Hopefully I have done that here. IF you are thinking about writing a book and havent yet, here is your encouragement to do so. It will at least, at the minimum, help you organize your own thoughts, put them down in writing, and you can make a claim or theory, then you have to defend that. I think that is the most valuable part of this process. And a great friend of mine told me once: There are 3 major tasks in life to becoming a man. 1. Plant a tree. 2. Have a child. 3. Write a book. Thanks for reading this and go make the world a better place today, one small act at a time!
