1C blueberries, 1 whole banana, 1.5C plain yogurt
Great information for the summer.
**UPDATE** Prayers and good vibes were answered! Blue was going to get her transfusion and when they tested her blood again she shows red blood cells are re-generating! Her little body is doing it all on her own so no transfusion for this fighter!!
Please send good vibes and prayers for Baby Blue, a 10 week old girl who was surrendered to the us on Saturday after a two week bout with Parvo. When we picked her up she was lethargic and very dehydrated. She spent the day at #vegchandler receiving care and later sent home with her foster where she was given IV fluids daily. Her red blood cell count was very low at the emergency vet and something to watch for during the week. She was eating and drinking during the week but didn't seem to gain that pink color she needed in her gums. We had a follow up visit at Foothills Animal Hospital where there was no change in her red blood cell count. We want to give her the best chance so she is currently back at #vegchandler receiving a blood transfusion now. She's a fighter so we are hopeful she will get better.
Meet Jesse, a sweet 13 year old lady passed to Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue when her owner passed away. This deserving girl has been to our vet and a treatment plan is underway if she can tolerate surgeries for her rotten teeth and mammary growths. She has been placed on thyroid meds and is in the care of a loving foster home in Tucson. Welcome Jesse to AZBTR!
Meet Gonzo. He's a 35 lb, 1 yr. old, red Boston Terrier who was surrendered. He is a super special guy, looking for just the perfect home. Gonzo is deaf and his prior owner did a lot of work to help him be able to communicate. He is smart as a whip and has loads of signs he uses for commands.
Gonzo absolutely loves to train, is working on his leash manners, is flawless in the crate, is potty trained, is perfect on car rides, and is learning to play well with other friendly dogs after a slow intro. He will never pass up the opportunity to cuddle on a couch, dismantle a stuffie or play some fetch.
Gonzo is insecure and has challenges meeting/trusting new people. Because of this, the transition from his foster home to his forever home will be a longer process. Once you are in his circle of trust, you are a friend for life, but he needs a patient, child free home who is committed to helping him build his leash & walking skills as well as increasing his confidence around humans. He is partial to the ladies.
He will need continued training to help navigate the world and would make a wonderful companion. Please refer to Gonzo’s “Best Home” needs to see if your home would be a good fit for this special needs boy..
GONZO’S BEST HOME
--A home with a yard
--Prefer no dogs as that is an added variable, but he does play well with other good-play-mannered pups after slow intro
--No children
--All humans in home learn & participate in training/walks to gain Gonzo’s trust.
--Patience with the process & Gonzo
If you meet his "Best Home" criteria and feel your home is a great fit, go to AZBTRescue.org (http://AZBTRescue.org) to complete an application

"THAT TERRIER FROM BOSTON" (On Left): Rue is a one year old, 17 pound male brindle terrier who is available for rescue from us and will be at Pet Planet on Saturday 8/6 (see our "Events" schedule). On intake, we couldn't leave Rue behind so he came into Boston Rescue! Rue is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. We will also license him (in Maricopa and Pima Counties). His adoption fee is just $200, but again everything is done. Rue is young with terrier energy, but after he gets that out of his system he settles down for cuddling. Rue is a sweet, submissive, loving boy and will make a great addition to your home as he gets along with everybody and everything!

Joey, is a 28 pound, twelve year old neutered male Boston terrier. This sweet little man is looking for a soft spot to land, where he can hang out with his favorite humans. Joey likes to ride in the car, take short walks, and be with his people. He is very sweet & gets along great with smaller dogs. He is potty trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash.
The best spot for Joey would be in a home where his humans are retired or work from home. He loves to just be in the same room with his favorite people, yet still has an independent side. If you like to take a cute, handsome guy on a 15 to 20 minute walk every day, this one is for you. Joey has been fully vaccinated, is microchipped, and has just had a dental.
Here is the application link if you are interested in giving Joey companionship and his forever home:

*DASH* If you are active, allow a dog to share your pool, and don’t have any young children or cats in the home then Dash could be the dog for you! He’s a Boston mix and has a tail so you don’t have to guess what he’s thinking. We’re not sure what he’s crossed with but he’s very “Bostony” and a heckuva lot of fun!

JOEY UPDATE: Five days after his dental Joey is feeling much better, even playful. He is also making it through the night without having to go outside and he hasn’t had any housebraking issues. All we’re waiting on is a final round of meds for his ingrained ear infection!
Maggie Mae
Maggie Mae is an 11 year old Boston Terrier we recently took in from Tucson. She was surrendered to us through someone who took her in after her owner passed away.
Yesterday, Maggie was transferred to Scottsdale where she will have greater access to specialty veterinary care. As you can see in the video, she had a wonderful introduction in her new foster home. As you can also see, Maggie is feeling pretty good after the toenails that had curled into her pads were trimmed and after a couple of rounds of medications that we had already gotten started when she first came in. A bonus is that she has a great foster Mom who understands Bostons that comes along with another Boston girl to play and snuggle with.
Yesterday we also received some guardedly optimistic news from her new primary care veterinarian at Kierland Animal Clinic. Dr. Krista Gibson believes that Maggies recurrent urinary tract infections are caused by kidney stones. It's hard to imagine that we would hope for kidney stones, but the alternative is worse.
Tomorrow, Maggie will undergo more diagnostic imaging and ultrasound at Kierland Animal Clinic with the potential of a kidney stone removal there or a referral to a specialty vet. This sweet little 12 pound girl deserves a complete and accurate diagnosis and she's going to get it!
