This happened last week. I’m still laughing about it.
The crate was assembled last Saturday. I noticed the bottom lock was broken but when you closed the handle, it was fine, it still securely latched the door.
Wednesday night, I close the bottom latch and Lily is watching me. Closely. I’m thinking I’m paranoid because why would a cat watch a door close?
I had my answer early Thursday morning.
I’m up way too early in the morning to have them comfortably situated before I leave for work
I’m in the bathroom brushing my teeth and Lily starts yelling for food. I’m thinking she sounds like she’s right under the sink! Kind of curious, I hurry up, get Rupurrt fed and go downstairs. I open the door, she comes walking out, tail straight in the air, having a conversation at hyper speed! She was so proud of herself!!
Of course I’m trying to figure out how she opened her crate and what she learned was if she pushed on that little hook, she could make the handle pop open! Yes, she was under the sink because she was on the freezer right under the bathroom sink 🤣🤣
So I’m up for the challenge and put a huge box of garbage bags in front of the door. I come home, open the door, here she is again!!
Now I’m gearing up for the final event. I put a 30 pound weight in front of the crate and so far so good.
I only want her crated at night because night 1 at home, it sounded like someone broke into the house since she climbed up a 3 tier shelving unit that’s about 7 feet high!!! She had so much fun!!
I think we’ve come to an agreement, but as cat mom, I fully know that can change anytime. 🤣🤣
