It’s getting hot out here 🥵

Do the right thing, leave your pet at home if it is too hot☀

If you can’t hold your hand on the pavement for five seconds, it’s too hot for your dog to walk on.

To be safe, it's best to walk your dog in the early morning, late afternoon, or evening avoiding hot asphalt and concrete.

Those bare bellies and toe beans run across hundreds of plants every day. And while some are the perfect napping spot, others trigger quite significant allergic reactions that result in everything from subtle foot licking through to big red belly welts. So it’s time to get our green on for the ‘...

‼️WARNING FOR DOG OWNERS - PLEASE SHARE‼️

We're hearing reports of sea hares washing up again on beaches in Perth and the South West. 😲🐶

Have you spotted any at your local?

Margaret River vet surgeon Amy Forsythe says the slimy football-sized slug-like sea creatures are getting worse - showing up on more beaches in WA and making more pets sick every year.

A dog with suspected toxicity poisoning has already made its way into her care this season.

The most common symptoms of sea hare toxicity in dogs include increased excitement, inability to walk properly, tremors, vomiting, lethargy, and seizures.

If your dog comes into contact with one of these molluscs, take it to your nearest vet IMMEDIATELY!

They can be FATAL to your pooch!

We are experiencing some chilly weather here in Perth. How do your fur babies usually stay warm?

With parts of the country experiencing their coldest days in 50 years, I’m guessing most pets haven’t strayed too far from bed. But just how much do they feel the cold? Well, here’s what separates our winter warriors from our winter worriers! When they can’t exactly head to the wardrobe and ...

Very important info if you are traveling with your fur baby.

Escaping up north this school holidays? If you’re travelling with your dog to northern Western Australia, there’s a few things you need to know.

A serious dog disease called ehrlichiosis has been found in parts of the Kimberley and more recently in the Pilbara. This disease occurs when an infected brown dog tick bites a dog. Dog owners can help to stop this disease spreading to other parts of WA with these simple steps:

🐕 Before you go on holidays, see your vet about putting your dog on a tick control program.

👉 Follow the packet instructions exactly or the treatment may not work. Ensure your dog is treated for at least three weeks after returning from the Kimberley and Pilbara.

🔍 Tick treatment doesn’t always kill the ticks straight away, so you should check your dog for ticks every day while in the Kimberley and Pilbara – especially around the neck, head, ears, armpits, belly and in between toes – and carefully remove ticks to reduce the risk of infection.

🐶 Check your dog is healthy before leaving the Kimberley and Pilbara. See a vet if your dog is showing any signs of ehrlichiosis.

It’s important to fill up your fur child’s emotional cup. My pup loves to eat, always, anytime of the day. He will have puppy dog eyes for food! Normally my hubby feeds him on the way out to work in the mornings. This morning, hubby texted me on the way out, “running late, haven’t fed pets”. Now my cat probably couldn’t care less but my dog loves his food. So when my pup saw me and barked and whinged at me, I could say “hey big boy, time for food?!” Instead of the normal “are you tricking me into feeding you?” . It felt good to know I was meeting his needs and the kids enjoyed using some of his food to “train” him.

How full is your dogs cup? ☕️💓

Reminder on the food that are not safe for your fur pup.

🎅 DON'T FEED YOUR DOG XMAS HAM 🐶🚫🍖

A timely reminder to all pet owners - DO NOT give your pet dog or cat any of your Christmas ham.

This poor dog pictured is Gordie - in 2017 year he ate an ENTIRE 2.2KG Christmas ham. His owners brought him into the vet for help.

"Christmas ham and ham bones are a huge no no,” the Animal Referral & Emergency Centre said.

“The fat and salt content of this delicious Christmas treat will reek havoc on the gastrointestinal system of our beloved fury family members."

Chocolate, grapes, nuts and fruit cake also need to be kept out of their reach 🍫🥜🍰🚫

We still love the basic Kong toy, as well as the variety of other toys made by Kong. But we have to admit, we also love many of Kongs competitors in the food-stuffable toy category. In fact, there are so many its hard to even have favorites anymore! But at a minimum, we think you should be aware of....

It’s definitely worthwhile having a look at this illustration. I know my pup yawns when he is starting to feel anxious. Knowing your own and other dogs’ body language is important and can guide and caution you on which situations to avoid. It is also beneficial to know how a dogs body language displays fear in order to avoid and prevent reactive behaviour from them. Let’s make sure we keep ourselves and our dogs safe by educating ourselves about the body language they may display when feeling scared or anxious.
