I provide interior and exterior painting, wall paper installation and removal for both residential and commercial applications.I also provide snow removal for plainville and farmington residents.

Removing wallpaper is an art and I've got it down to science. I estimate these jobs by the hour and I usually come in under budget. It's kind of a little competition I have with myself to see just how good I am. Frankly, I'm very good.

It's a good thing that I like working with my hands. Honestly, a lot of people who have started the day with me didn't make it past lunch. A few said, "I'm too fussy" - but my clients don't think there is such a thing as a job that is too good for them. And neither do I.

I return written estimates as soon as possible, usually that same day or the day after I see a site. I itemize labor and material for each room so that homeowners have the flexibility to take out parts of a job if they need to make a budget work.

I always document my paint. Never trust memory. I write down the paint info from the label and where that color was used. It's a note to a future self - the person I save from aggravation may just be myself

I've discovered there's a balance to working on the current job and responding to questions from other or future jobs. I give my current job 100% of my attention and, when I take breaks, I catch up on email or voice mail. Breaks mean I don't get too tired and make mistakes and, by avoiding distractions, I get my work done better and faster. This makes everyone happier.

There are some special techniques to getting wallpaper to hang properly, with no gaps between seams. One of these is to allow the paper to stay wet a certain amount of time before hanging.

When I remove wallpaper, most times, there's nothing for me to repair... at the most, I need to do about an hour of simple patching. Unfortunately, lots of people use wallpaper to hide damage. When I estimate, I like to really examine the walls so the homeowner has no surprises.

Is it easier to take down newer wallpaper than old? It’s also easier to remove expensive wallpaper because the cheap stuff just doesn’t hold itself together. But, many of us didn’t chose the wallpaper we’re going to remove… so if it went up 70 years ago or by a former owner whose taste you don’t like, I’ll whip up my secret formula and we’ll get that stuff out of the way.

I like to give oil based primer time to cure. It shrinks… not so you can see it with the naked eye but enough so that the change in size will affect anything you paint over that primer. So… I give it what it needs and that’s time… I know then it won’t wreck my work when I paint.

I always prime end cuts and the back of new wood when I repair the exterior of a home. That may seem like unnecessary work – who sees it? But, the work is not about beauty. I know it stops future rot from finding a home in your house.
