Happy 11th Birthday to our beautiful boy ❤️. He is thriving in his senior years, still going full speed at all times. We are so thankful for his health and unyielding spirit.

Elvis' annual birthday fundraiser to benefit Lone Star Dog Ranch & Dog Ranch Rescue 🥳
On June 26th, Elvis will turn 10 years old and we are running this fundraiser until his birthday. We have set our goal at $10,000 for his 10 years of life. This is a huge amount but if everyone donates just a little, we can reach our goal no problem. Please make your donation at the link in our bio to benefit Dog Ranch Rescue and all of their efforts to rescue and rehab dogs that they save from puppy mills and high kill shelters. This girl hasn't walked on four legs since last Saturday. Constantly holding her back left leg up and hopping around on the other three. I drop her at the vet for x-rays today and soon after the Dr calls me and says "she's doing much better, huh? She's walking all over the place on four legs". Excuse me?? All I could think was it must be the adrenaline or anxiety of being at the vet that made her not think of the pain. I pick her up and she comes moseying out on four legs, I can't believe it! I get her home, put her down and away she hops on just three 🤦‍♀️. What is happening? Is this all for attention? 😆
Anyway, x-rays showed what we already know- that she has an extremely bad luxating patella but the thought was that she possibly tore her ACL as well. There wasn't any evidence of that but a surgeon is going to look them over just to be sure. The patella may need surgery but they'll want to put that off until the leg heals a bit more from the previous surgery.
Now, how much longer is she going to hop around on three when I saw very clearly she is able to walk on all four 😂

She was doing so well..then she jumped out of her stroller and hurt her surgery leg. Now she's having x-rays on Friday 🤦‍♀️

Coco Bean update- Her oncologist called with the histopathology results and said, thankfully, that the tumor was not an aggressive cancer. He feels that even though they couldn't get 100% clean margins, no further treatment (chemo or radiation) is necessary at this time.
She will have her cast removed on Thursday and hopefully we can begin to put this behind us! Thank you for all of your messages wishing our Bean the best!

They removed the tumor and infected lymph node. Because of the location of the tumor they were unable to get clean margins, we knew this going in. Follow-up next week will tell us next steps. She's extremely out of it but fighting to stay awake. Thank you for all your messages and well wishes!

It's surgery day for the Bean. Today she'll have her mast cell tumor and the lymph node that it has spread to removed. Good vibes please 😊.

Thank you to everyone who shared your experiences with MCTs. Many of your stories had positive outcomes so we will hope the same for Bean! Thank you for all the well wishes sent to our girl- we have read them all and appreciate them so much. We will definitely keep everyone posted as we go through the process, hoping that it may help others who encounter something similar in the future. ❤️

We just learned that our beautiful Bean has cancer. She has a mast cell tumor on her back leg (her hock area) and next step will be to visit an oncologist. I don't know much about MCTs in dogs, so if anyone can share their experience on what we could possibly expect, that would be helpful to us. The good news is that although the mass is quite sizeable, she doesn't know anything is different and is in no discomfort at all. She's her crazy, running, jumping self and we'd love to be able to keep it that way.
*I should add that this tumor is under the skin, not a bump on top like many MCTs. A surgeon already told us he would not be able to get clean margins with mass removal alone.
