Like everything else in 2020, many of the blankets are requiring extensive repairs… 🤕 There is no shame in replacing old worn out 🐎 blankets 😁👍

I’ve had some requests to pick up Blankets – I’m going to wait until April and then will schedule pick ups. In the meantime, blankets can be dropped off at both the Slippery Rock and Stoneboro locations. Please label the bags and or the blankets and include a list of everything included in the drop off. You can call or text with any questions. 724-816-2867.
I will be scheduling a trip to Washington County the second week of April. Stay well.

Here are some tips for do -it -yourself cleaning if you want to wash your smaller blankets or sheets, etc. The key is water-lots of water. If you're using a high-efficiency machine you can add water to the intake. If you're using a front loader, make sure the water level is at least a third of the way up the window. Use very little soap. For waterproofed blankets, you can buy blanket wash online or at tack shops. Dreft laundry soap is formulated for diapers, so it is great to use on coolers, fly sheets, saddle pads etc. Again, don't use very much soap, use lots of water. Set your machine on the heaviest dirt setting, and extra rinse. Cold water only and line dry. Hot water and dryer heat will remove your waterproofing. Power washing will also remove waterproofing. Also hard on the waterproofing, is letting a dirty blanket sit all summer. So there you have it, happy cleaning! Or-I can do the dirty work for you in a commercial machine!😁😁

Happy Spring! I am running a bit behind on the blanket services due to some mechanical issues with the commercial machine. We are up and running again, so if you are ready to have blankets picked up let me know. For drop off’s, the shop is still located on Dickey Road in slippery rock. Thank you!

Tuesday tip: getting your white saddle pads to look new again. This is where a pressure washer can be useful. Hang the saddle pad on a saddle rack or a clean section of fence... start inside out, at the top and spray downward, pushing all the soil out the bottom of the pad. Repeat on the outside. Be careful of any trim or embellishments that may not hold up against the pressure washer. Then wash in the machine, again using a second rinse cycle. I would use warm water and a detergent booster along with your soap. Vinegar is useful for removing stains and odor.

As many of you know, Joe and I bought a farm in Stoneboro. I am still operating the blanket service in Slippery Rock, but will eventually move the business to the farm. For customers that I pick up and deliver to, I will grandfather in your mileage costs, and there will be no increase. Blankets can be dropped off either in Slippery Rock or Stoneboro for those of you who drop off. And I will still pick up blankets at area events that we both attend. Thank you all for your business. Come on spring!😎😎
