Great couple of days at Estate sales! I bought a ceramic kiln for $50. I'm planning fun with making Halloween and Christmas decorations for me and family. Not sure about the Sizzix cutter but it came with 4 boxes of dies and for $30. I could always resell it if I don't like it. Lastly those canning jars😍😍😍! I bought 700 quart jars for $4. a dozen. My best find!!!❤❤❤

We both have a knack for finding bargains on a regular basis. Today we found furniture half price at the ReStore, then as we continued on to other thrift stores I saw this HEAVY stainless dishpan. It must weigh 5 # or more. Got it half price ($5.00) and when I researched it it's a US Navy stock pot. It resells for around $100. and is probably over 50 yrs old. Who knew??? The search for the unusual and bargain is all the fun for us!

We have decided to move back to the farm this Fall. There's a lot of cleanup to be done after the bad renter but we're finally making progress. I think I'll archive the farm page from before and use the Barefoot Hippy page instead. Should I change the name?

I want to tell you all I'm impressed with these bulk canning lids I just got. Compared to the others, the metal and the rubber are both thicker. I have to can chicken tomorrow and I'll see how they do! Let y'all know how it goes. It's the FORJARS brand. There's 100 per box and I got 3 boxes. Cheaper than I found Ball too.

We're all seeing this. Between gasoline, food, meds and utilities, we will have to watch our low income elderly or they will go hungry at this rate. Same issues for low income kids... You can't help everyone, but we can all watch out for our relatives/ grandparents or one neighbor. It's so easy to be too busy to notice someone's not getting to eat...

I don't know where this pic was taken but here in WV we bought the same fertilizer for roughly $20.00 a bag. I don't use much bagged fertilizer, too much of the salts in it will sterilize your ground. However a little is ok in a pinch. Aged manure is a much healthier option! Go get some emergency fertilizer before this CRAZY price catches on and spreads everywhere!

Hi,
Barefoot here! I know I haven't made a post in 2 months so I'm hopping on to say I'm back and will post something soon.
I've had Covid, Remdesivir treatment, and then kidney failure. I just didn't feel like doing much of anything.
Currently my kidneys have improved but are nowhere near normal. They may not get any better or then again they might improve a bit more. It's a wait and see situation. Right now I'm doing fine.
I hope to do some posts on Christmas crafting soon! See you then!😀

Dried my whole sage plant and ended up with 2 quarts! I won't have to buy any this year for Thanksgiving stuffing😃
Sage is hardy stuff, it lived through the winter and started growing again in March. Now on to the Peppermint and Lavender.

Eighteen cases I just moved out of the way and onto a shelf. Haven't had time to even get them out of boxes yet. Maybe later.... I'm really looking forward to making Apple Butter when apples are ripe.

Today's post is canning Peach Butter. I swear these peaches were horrible to work up, but they smell so good cooking down I keep "testing" them😂. I mean they might need a pinch more Nutmeg so I HAVE to keep checking right?

I can my pinto's without soaking because if I don't they turn to mush. I am not telling anyone which method to use, just commenting what I do. I use 1 cup dry beans per jar, 1tsp canning or sea salt, and 1 or 2 strips of bacon for flavor. Pressure can at 10 lbs pressure for 90 minutes. I used the small 7 qt canner this time, I was too tired to pick up that huge one lol. What did you put up this week?

The Summer of never-finished canning continues!😉 I've got one more 25 # bag thawing and that's all the stew beef canned. I think it will be 121 quarts. Still have the pork and chicken to get through. I hope I can get that done before time to can the veggies.

Hot packed some beef yesterday to start moving a lot of the meats to shelf stable. Having a lot of anything in the freezer is a gamble in my opinion. I try to never keep more in the freezer than I can take care of in a power outage. I hate losing food and all that prep work that goes into it👣🌻👣~Barefoot~
