It turned out that being left behind would be Rocky's greatest gift. Because being left behind meant angels would be on their way to bring him safety, a full belly, medical care, warmth, and a foster family.

It would mean no more worries and it would mean people who would never allow for him to be left behind again.

But seriously- when you move- remember to take your pets along please...

A massive thank you to Northern Reach Network , all of your volunteers, the Georgian Triangle Humane Society, the Bark Bus- Northern Legacy Horse Farm, and the Zoey Foundation for being Rocky's angels.

Rocky was one of 53 animals that recently headed to 11 different rescues to be offered a second chance.

The things these groups do- absolutely incredible. So if you don't already- please go follow them.

And this right here, this is what happens when rescues work together too.

Rocky has gone from being left behind outdoors alone, to lapping up all of the daily sofa naps he can. Literally 😆 Because he is pretty sure he's a lap dog.

He's amazing with everyone he meets including dogs and cats too. And although the horses he's hung out around were a little intimidating, he's of course their bestie too.

Rocky is an incredible dog and at only about 8 years old, you guessed it- there are so many years of doing all the best things and soaking up all of the love ahead of him.

Rocky heads to our vet clinic for a head to tail check today and we will book him in for a neuter stat.

Looking for one heck of a rockstar dog? When ready to adopt- this guy, he's the one ❤️.

Welcome to Happy's Place Rocky.

Nova's journey began with a heartbreaking surrender to UCHS by a farmer who felt compelled to part with her due to concerns about her interactions with livestock.
The moment Debbie and Dave laid eyes on this stunning German shepherd, their hearts filled with hope. They took the time to visit Nova several times, ensuring that she would be a perfect fit for their family and that she felt a sense of belonging with them. On July 3, 2016, they welcomed Nova into their lives, marking the start of a beautiful bond.

Transitioning from her life as an outdoor farm dog to an indoor companion was a significant adjustment for Nova. Simple things like navigating stairs, hearing the hum of a heating unit, or walking over the seam in carpet were new and challenging experiences for her. Yet, with patience and love, she embraced her new home.

In the fall of 2016, Nova was evaluated for the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog program, where she brought immeasurable joy to individuals in the community. Her warm presence brought smiles to Bernice at the Bennett Centre and the children at Robert Little School, who cherished her visits during story time at MZ Bennett.

Sadly, early in 2017, Debbie faced a profound loss when she said goodbye to her beloved service dog, Nikki. During this difficult time, Kim from Balanced K9 in Oshawa played a pivotal role in helping Nova transition into her new role as Debbie’s psychiatric service dog.
Nova flourished as a cherished ambassador for UCHS, participating in Thrift Store and shelter events, creating lasting memories during family camping trips to the east coast and northern Ontario, and even experiencing the thrill of flying to California with Debbie.

Tragically, Nova’s time as a service and therapy dog was cut short by a swift onset of Canine Degenerative Myelopathy (CDM), a condition she was genetically prone to. Despite her spirit and determination to overcome this challenge, her battle with CDM ultimately took its toll just shy of her 11th birthday.

Nova Bl**er (2014-2025) will forever be remembered as a loving companion who brought light and joy to everyone around her.
