Super Dude Flash

Dear friends, we have some sad news ... Super Dude Flash has passed away.

He had on/off infections for a year and was struggling to fight them off. Typically, he was in charge until the end and he let us know he was ready to go.

Flash was a highly intelligent street cat - a great charmer and communicator. He adapted and thrived in his second life after the accident. Flash did not have a problem being blind.

Flash was an inspiration. We consider ourselves very lucky to have shared four wonderful years with this extraordinary cat. He leaves a very large hole in our lives.

We couldn't have done it without brilliant Team Flash.
Thank you ladies [hmmmm, all ladies!] - Martina, Hez, Karen, Sara, Juli, Sabreena, Amanda, Hana, Francesca, Lauren.

Hi Friends, sorry been too busy this summer enjoying the warm days in my own garden. Ive had lots of birds and bugs to chase, had some good adventures and have made some new clips that soon ill be sharing.

Hey friends! What have you been up to? I’ve been sleeping the winter off, but now I’m finally back to my garden, hunting and warming up into the sun. I think that someone is tipping the birds off though!

I've got a new favourite toy: a mouse on a bamboo stick!
I love chasing it around the garden and pouncing on it. The exercise is good for me and it keeps my jaw moving as well.
Do you guys have any favourite toy?

Hi everyone!
Here is a video update on these last few months.
I've been quite busy in the garden chasing butterflies, hopping around and digging flower beds.
In my free time I demand food, lap time, food, brushing, food, cuddles and food!

Hi friends!
Are you ready for Christmas? Did you destroy all the decorations already?
I visited Clerkenwell Animal Hospital for my regular check-up.
Everyone there was amazing as usual, they helped me with my arthritis and other small issues (I am, after all, over 10 years old).
So thank you again to all the staff at Clerkenwell Animal Hospital, from Clinical Director Mark to Head Nurse Martina, to all the nurses and receptionists for making me feel at home and always taking good care of me!

I can't believe it's been two years since my life changed!
Time runs differently for us cats, but I know I've come a long way since the accident,
thanks to my super humans, my vets, Lady Dinah's and their amazing community and all of my friends on this page.
I am a happy cat and live a full life, enjoying every single day.
Be like me guys and never give up!

Hi friends!
It's been a very warm summer and I've spent it mainly in my Kent residence, chasing birds and enjoying the garden.
I'm enjoying plenty of nutritious food and exercise, then I relax with my hobby, making sure to be involved in every single activity along with my humans.

I've been very busy prowling the garden and terrace for birds, eating delicious prawns, sunbathing, keeping my humans' laps warm and trying a few new sleeping spots.

After the big hairball, Flash is enjoying his daily runs outside. Whether rains or shines, nothing stops Flash from having adventures in the garden.

Hairball gone.... Phew!

Feeling soooo much better, normal life returning, appetite too.

Had a visit to the vets, they gave me a clean inside and out. They even polished my teeth and gave me a pedicure!!!

Hairballs!

Flash is showing signs of having a hairball blockage. With his damaged jaw, he’s struggling to cough it up so the vets might need to intervene. Does anyone have any experience of this? We’d be interested to hear.

Obviously, being a Super Dude, Flash is not complaining. He eats bowls of home-made chicken broth rather than packet food and does a lots of sleeping and purring...

It is a year ago today that Flash had his horrible accident. It was touch and go whether he would survive but thanks to you (Team Flash) here he is one year later living a happy life.

Special thanks are due to ... Sara who bravely rescued him from the road, Lauren at Lady Dinahs Cat Cafe for incredibly raising the funds to pay for his hospital treatment, all the generous donors, Clerkenwell Vets for their superb care, Sabreena, Martina, Ceren and all you wonderful Facebook friends for your support and fun messages (especially love the photos).

The butler and housemaid aren't bad either!

My 'Feeding Station' in action.

My Humans surprised me with a cool 'Feeding Station' thanks to 'H'. 'H' is a local kitesurfer legend and maker of Paipo surfboards. He designed me the perfect fit for my new improving feeding ability. I've learnt how to gulp bowl after bowl... Yeah, i gorge myself. It's a bit messy because i've got limited bite and chew, but i still manage to lick all of the yummy chicken shreds and jelly i can get.

Thank you 'H', eating is soooo much easier now.

it was exactly 7 months ago today that I had my accident. It has been a long (and sometimes messy) road to recovery, but thanks to Ed, Katy, Sara and the team at Clerkenwell, I've started to get the hang of eating by myself again! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3F-jZnEObY

I still do make a bit of a mess of it, tbh. Anyone out there got any tips to help me eat more of my food and wear less of it?

6 Months after the accident, Flash begins to show interest in self-feeding, it's early days. He can't see, nor bite but he has found a way to eat by himself ...

I'm not going to let being blinded by my accident get in the way of having a good time!

I have been practicing my ninja moves with Ed, and I can hear the sound of loo paper blowing in the wind on a blustery day. Nothing wrong with this guy's hearing, eh ^_^ Look out, mice!

I have been getting back on my feet with the help of some tasty treats and my best friend Ed!

I'm not great at biting, but I can hop about and I can chew! My tongue is always poking out a little bit, but I think I'm working that look. Still got it. Meow.

Hi all! I've been visited in Clerkenwell Animal Hospital last week and vets and nurses found me in very good conditions! My eye didn't recover sight, but I can blink now so I don't need artificial tears anymore, my mouth opens a bit more and the muscles seem to be slowly recovering. I'm loving the small trips to the countryside as much as the comfy London flat life, there is plenty of adventures for me everywhere!
