Got the girls a new toy. A scratcher, they love it. And like everything that you introduce to them, everyone has to be first to try it. A little fighting over it at first, but they are now sharing.

There always has to be one in the bunch!!
This is Spicy-Acres Addison, she is a two year old 1st freshener. I wanted to get her on the milk stand and shave her up a bit to show off this pretty udder she is developing. This was a fight all the way for what you see here. It took me over a half hour for what little I did. She is a dancer on the milk stand and fought me all the way. It will be interesting to get her trained on the milk machine once she freshens.

Happy the first doe to kid decided to kid today in the middle of the day when the weather was so nice and warm. Now I don’t have to worry about the next couple of chilly days. Two bucks and a doe, nice and easy no problems just the way it should be. Thankful!

What a beautiful February day! Took advantage of this time to check out my milk machine, cleaned her up, changed all the filters and made sure everything was working properly. Kids due in a week or less, gotta make sure we’re ready to roll.

Received our results back yesterday from Herd Health Diagnostics on this years CAE testing and happy to report, another perfect year. All is clear and everyone is Negative. We started testing back in 2010 so we are now at 14 years with a CAE free herd. Blessed!

Six weeks before kidding starts. Had all the girls on the milk stand yesterday looking everyone over and trimmed hooves. It has been so cold I have been taking warm water out every day, they love it and this way I know they are drinking good. Also gave everyone a little treat of grain, rolled oats, beep pulp and black oil sunflower seeds. Just adding a little fuel for them to burn and keep them warm in this cold snap.

Sorry to see him go, Vineyard View VA Hampton left today to his new Barnyard. He has added a lot to my herd and will continue to see his improvements with a couple of dry yearlings and kids I have kept from him this year. He is going to a bigger herd that I'm sure he will enjoy. Best of Luck Big Boy!

-19 degrees at my house this morning. Make sure you are giving those 4 legged creatures outside some extra love. I've been taking Hot water out everytime I go to the barn to make sure they are drinking. Throwing a little more feed in and plenty of extra bedding. So far everyone is doing good!!
