Bodhi just completed Koru K9’s 3-Week Board and Train Program with our NorCal trainer, Jenn Cassens—and he’s crushing it!

His owners wanted to strengthen his basic obedience foundation, and that’s exactly what we focused on during his training.

Cinnamon’s Journey — Part 2 🐶💪 Trust is working.
Trainer update from Maloree:
Last night, Cinnamon slept in a crate for the very first time and did absolutely amazing! 🎉 No issues going in or out, and she settled beautifully.

This week’s wins:

Slept in a crate for the first time and settled beautifully 🎉

Calm for leash on/off handling

Seeking affection (yes to gentle pets)

Brought me a toy—huge trust signal!

How we got here: slow, intentional bonding. No rushing. Predictable routine, short engagement moments, and using the crate as a safe place, not a punishment. Now she’s ready to begin more structured training.

What’s next: we’ll start layering skills (Place, thresholds, calm leash work) and will decide by the weekend if adding an extra week will help lock in her progress.

Pro tip: Invest in a durable, secure crate to keep nervous dogs safe while they decompress. We’ve had great results with RuffLand—Cinnamon is surprisingly comfortable in it.

Meet Farley—a 3-year-old rescue adopted two years ago.
At first he was timid, with no signs of aggression. Within weeks, things changed: territorial reactivity toward guests, escalating to a snap at a friend. Managing him safely at home became hard.

Cinnamon just started a 3-week Board & Train with us, and we’re sharing her story with full honesty.

Week 1 has been tough:
🐶 Severe fear-based reactivity with forward aggression (moving toward threats to bite).
🐾 Refusing food, avoiding contact, unpredictable lunging.
⚠️ Stress so high it’s caused urination and multiple bite attempts (always safely muzzled).

Most dogs settle into training within 24–48 hours — Cinnamon is still on high alert, not yet seeking safety or connection with her trainer.

Her owner had even begun considering behavioral euthanasia because the situation felt impossible.

But Cinnamon’s story is why we do what we do. Don’t give up — we can help you. With structure, safety, and the right approach, progress is possible.

Meet Molly, a sweet shepherd mix from San Diego, CA! 🐾 Before her 3-week Board & Train program with San Diego Dog Trainer Sparky, Molly's family faced daily challenges: intense leash pulling, frantic reactivity to cars, excessive barking, and even running off. Walks were a struggle, especially for her 70+ year-old grandma and 9-year-old sister. 😓

Fast forward just three weeks? This San Diego pup is a picture of confidence, calm, and is totally in tune with her humans. 🙌

Now, Molly consistently demonstrates:

We’re thrilled to welcome Rob to the team! Based in Portland, Oregon, he’ll be working directly with clients through our In-Home Training Program, helping dogs and their humans build stronger, more balanced lives—one session at a time. 🐶

'Rob grew up in a family that always had dogs. His lifelong passion for canine companions was sparked by a unique experience with Nanook—a majestic Malamute/Timberwolf mix. Despite her beauty, Nanook's untrained nature led to challenges that ultimately resulted in her rehoming. This experience shaped Rob's commitment to helping dog owners forge stronger, more fulfilling relationships with their pets. With over 30 years of personal experience working with dogs and 4 years of professional expertise, Rob has honed a versatile skill set in various roles at doggy daycare and training facilities. In the summer of 2024, Rob launched his own dog training business to provide personalized guidance to both dogs and their owners. As a balanced trainer, Rob recognizes that each dog is unique and tailors their approach to meet individual needs, blending proven methods with adaptability and care.
