We are absolutely gutted to hear this news. 😭
Oliver really was, an awesome pig.
He taught millions the love and intelligence that we pigs possess.
Our hearts go out to Lauren and the Hilley family during this difficult time.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Oliver Chops Hilley, known to most as Oliver the Awesome Pig. Born over twelve years ago, Oliver was adopted a month later by Lauren, who adopted him at the age of 10.

Over the years, we've shared the amazing life of Oliver, his mom, and his crazy family and we can't thank this community enough for the support and love that you've shared with us, and more importantly, him.

In the last few months, we have noticed a decline in his overall health. In the last two weeks, it has rapidly fallen. Seeking help, we consulted with a nearby trusted vet. There, they ran testing and imaging on Oliver and unfortunately the prognosis was not well.

Oliver had bone marrow cancer and the arthritis in his bones was worse than they initially anticipated. Lauren had to make a decision on how to best help him, and though it was heartbreaking, she made the loving decision to help him over the rainbow bridge.

At 8:33PM, on January 4th, 2024, Oliver Chops Hilley peacefully passed away, surrounded by his mom, his Grandma “Snakey”, and Lauren’s Grandpa, “Bampaw”. They were in attendance when he was adopted initially, and were blessed to see him and say their final goodbyes.

At this time, we ask for the sake of his mom and the rest of the family that we have the privacy to celebrate and grieve the life of Oliver the Awesome Pig. We will be monitoring the comments and messages that we receive as a result of the news, but we are expecting a response on a scale we have no experience handling. As a result, please know that if we don’t respond to your well wishes personally, we appreciate them all nonetheless.

Hello, everybody.

There’s no easy way to say this, but the day we all wished would never come has arrived. Esther has passed away. She was calm and peaceful, and fell asleep with her dad Steve by her side.

While we understand many of you will have questions, and we will have the answers for you , but we are going to take a little break to process the situation.

Even though Esther is no longer physically with us, her memory and legacy will live forever. Esther is immortal, and we will continue to show the world that all animals deserve to be loved just like she was.

Sending love and happy thoughts to each and every one of you. We know you all loved her just as much as we did, and we thank you for that.

Happy National Opossum Day!!!

Did you know?

Opossums are North America's only marsupial.
Opossum are native to North America while the Possum is native to Australia and New Zealand.
An opossum's body temperature is 94° which allows them to be nearly immune to scorpion, spider, and snake venom.
They are amazingly resistant againt rabies or distemper and are not known to carry either. In fact, there's only been 10 cases of opossums that have tested positive for rabies in the last 150 years.
They are nature's vacuum cleaners.
They have 50 teeth which is the most out any mammal.
"Playing dead" is an involuntary reaction.
A group of opossums is called a passel.

We know this place! It's where Grandma, Papa, and Dad adopted us from! Every now and then, we take a trip back to visit.

I (Neville) was sold as a "teacup" and well, the teacup just fits my nose now. Dad doesn't like greeders whom use piglet photos to sell a lie, which was what happened to me and how I came to be at Ross Mill Farm. I am one of thousands of pigs whom end up at sanctuaries like this because of it. Just like dogs, we too are overbred and are given up for the same reasons.
