Due to an unfortunate family health issue...Today marks the official day of stopping all our future breeding plans. We love the Redbone breed and will continue advocating for good ethical breeders of both family and hunting lines and the people and families who love them. To all our families who send us regular updates please keep sending. I love to see all the happy pup pics.

[All girls are reserved] All 3 girls were reserved before the 1st boy was reserved....and due to various circumstances with their 1st families all three became available again! Purple girl was reserved again...we have aqua girl and pink girl interviewing perspective families again :) they are beautiful and healthy pups! PM me if you are interested.

In 2000, Old Coot (Daddy) met a man named Mike Davis. Mike bred a line of Redbones called Hunt's Creek which was descended from a very old line of Redbones he'd inherited. Our family had just lost our dog and we were looking for another to fill the void. Daddy really liked the look of Mike's line and Mike sold us a pup. We brought her home and named her Penny for Your Thoughts.

A little over a year later we went back to Mike for another pup and brought home Penny's half sister Ruby. Ruby was about the prettiest pup you'd ever seen. We were smitten with her. Tragedy struck only a few short weeks later when a neighbor's dog got out of their pen when we were over and attacked Ruby. She was bitten in the head and despite our attempts to save her, she died of her injuries.

We were obviously devastated at the loss. Daddy told Mike what had happened and Mike said he still had one female from Ruby's litter left. He had planned on keeping her for himself but he offered her to Daddy. Money was tight for us coming up and Daddy explained that he couldn't afford another pup right then but that eventually we'd be back when he'd saved up enough. Mike insisted that Daddy had paid for a pup for our family and that he was going to make sure that we got one. He gave Daddy the pup he was keeping for himself, for free. We brought her home and named her Calamity Jane and with that simple, honest act, Pondholler was born.

Mike cared deeply about his line of dogs, was incredibly knowledgeable and bred beautiful hounds. He was also a good man who gave our family a gift that 18 years later has become an incredible family of people and dogs all over the world.

We received the sad news today that Mike had passed. We'd like to think he was met on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge by Penny, Callie, and a whole pack of Redbones welcoming him home. There would be no Pondholler without his simple act of kindness and he will never be forgotten.

So tonight as your Pondholler Pup steals your pizza crust, warms your feet, or leads you on another moonlight hunt through the woods, remember Mike and the simple act that started it all.

Rest in peace, Old Friend.

No longer available..... We have one female that has become available. Very sadly the family has a 1 1/2 year old that has a pretty severe dog allergy they were not aware of and discovered just days after pick up. They very sadly and reluctantly had to return her. She was 1st female pick. This is yellow girl. She has had her 6 week and 9 week puppy shots, dewormed , microchip and vet checked.

Unfortunately, intestinal parasites are part of the territory with both puppies and dogs. Pyrantel Pamoate is the dewormer of choice for puppies because it is safe to start as early as 2 weeks. We worm the Puppies at 4, 6 and 8 weeks while they are with us but you need to continue deworming every 2 weeks until the pups are at least 16 weeks old. Aside from choosing a quality dog food, a regular worming schedule, the next biggest thing you can do for your furry baby is keep them on a good flea/tick preventative and monthly heart worm preventative which can start at 8 weeks old. Most heartworm preventatives are also intestinal parasite dewormers. This is fantastic because not only are you saving your dog from the deadly heartworm, but you are also giving it a once a month dewormer to prophylactically eliminate any free loading tummy bugs.

So puppy pick-up morning is here!! We are still without electricity, or water (well), internet or phone. We get no cell reception at home so I am currently at the end of our street with our early morning pickups in hand! Our farm is cut-off right now by a fallen tree entwined with power cables! What a week!! Booking flights and scheduling pickup and transport. But we are nearly there!! To top it off we are without power, internet and phone due to the storm and high winds. We have trees down on our entry road but hoping they will be cleared by the morning. Puppies flying on Sunday just got their flight check and were cleared by our fabulous vet!! No electricity at the vet but we got it done. If you need to contact me send a message and I will answer when I can.

We all got to see the vet today and get our microchips. There were some tears, gnawing and gnashing of teeth...but then I pulled myself together and the pups did fine :)

During potty training it is easiest to do when the puppies are on a feeding schedule. Do what works for you and your pup. We recommend once potty training is firmly established go back to free feeding. Your pup will be growing rapidly over the next year and will need nourishment to grow strong bones, brain development, beautiful shiny coats..etc

Puppy Pickup Weekend is nearly here! As most of you are aware the pups are currently free fed 4Health Grain Free Puppy food that we purchase from Tractor Supply Co. They are currently on 1x a day Puppy Mash which is 4Health Puppy Food with Iams Chicken Pate and soaked in whole farm fresh milk and goat milk until a little soggy...they love it. The puppy mash is optional when you get your pups home, however they will need to stay on a large breed puppy food until they are at least 1 year old. We free feed all of our dogs and also provide fresh chicken, rice, vegetables, mince meat etc. on a regular basis.
