*URGENT DONATIONS NEEDED*

Kitten season is booming!

A couple of months ago we reached out to the community asking for help feeding our over-abundance of kittens. We received a very generous amount of donations and were able to keep our kittens happy and well-fed since then.
However, with over 30 kittens in our care, our supply has dwindled and we find ourselves again in need of wet kitten food.

We are again reaching out to our amazing community to consider donating wet kitten food to ensure these precious kittens receive the nutrition they need to thrive.
Your contribution will make a significant difference in their lives, providing them with the sustenance and care they need and deserve.

Any kind of kitten food will work for us and we would be extremely grateful for any donations received.

Thank you for your support and for making a difference during this critical time! 🐈

Donation can be sent directly to our shelter:

Thank you Operation SOS!!!! Dr. Kittams and her team are the best, they have spay/neutered hundreds of cats for me as a trapped doing TNVR for years. We can help our community cats by cutting down the population through TNVR and monitoring our colonies for new faces to trap. Colonies with all sterilized cats are much happier and healthier!

TNVR stands for Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return, and it is a humane method of managing and reducing the population of free-roaming or feral cats. Here’s a breakdown of what each step involves:

Trap: Cats are captured using humane traps designed to safely contain them without causing harm.

Neuter: Once trapped, the cats are taken to a veterinary clinic where they are spayed (female cats) or neutered (male cats). This procedure involves surgically sterilizing the cats so they cannot reproduce.

Vaccinate: While under anesthesia for the neutering/spaying procedure, the cats are vaccinated against common diseases such as rabies and feline distemper. This helps improve their overall health and prevents the spread of diseases within the cat population.

Return: After surgery and vaccination, the cats are returned to their original location where they were trapped. This step is crucial because these cats are often part of a colony and are accustomed to their environment. By returning them, it maintains the social structure of the colony and prevents new, unsterilized cats from moving in and taking their place.

Sterilize, Sterilize, Sterilize please! I cannot tell you how sad it is to have a 4 month old kitten pregnant with kittens herself. Young mommy kitties are usually not good mothers and the kittens may not get the care and nutrition they need. Kittens can be spay/neutered at 2 months and two pounds.

Thank you to Caring Fields Felines for taking my TNVR kitty that was too far along and delivered 8 beautiful babies!

All 8 of the “V” babies were adopted thanks to their foster family of Amy and Kaylah G.!! This mom/daughter team took mama Violet and her octuplets when the babies were 4 weeks old and did such an amazing job with them. 8 kittens is a lot of work! Venture, Virgil, Valley, Vixie, Vavoom, Vladimir, Vanilla Bean and Viking have thrived in their foster home and have all found wonderful furever homes now. We cannot thank Amy and Kaylah enough for opening up their hearts and home to this large family.

Never even a consideration!!!!

Never even a consideration!!!!

Paws up, cat lovers! Those tiny daggers we call claws are a crucial, multi-faceted element of our feline friends. Not only do they help with movement and balance, but they also play a big role in social and emotional well-being. So, let's give our whiskered pals a high-five (or high-paw) for their amazing claws!

The practice of declawing cats is considered unnecessary, painful, and debilitating. This procedure involves the amputation of the entire last segment of their 10 front toes, which is comparable to severing a human's fingers at the first knuckle!

Declawing causes pain, severs nerves, tendons, and muscles in cats, leaving them without their movement and defense abilities. There is no medical benefit, and the recovery is prolonged and painful.

Declawing alternatives include teaching cats to use scratching posts, safe deterrents like sprays, and trimming their nails.

Remember, feline friends deserve love and respect. Declawing is not only cruel, it's unnecessary!

The public's perception of declawing has transformed considerably over the past few years, and you can discover more about it here 👇🏼

Spay/Neuter is an Act of Kindness, please get involved.

Spay/Neuter is an Act of Kindness, please get involved.

Why are we seeing so many injuries to male cats this time of year? I believe it’s because mating season has officially begun. 📆 I don’t think the average person understands how much an unneutered male cat goes through in order to satisfy his natural urges. 😕

They will roam up to 5 miles to find a female in heat. They can encounter many dangers on this trek including traffic, little food or water, other animals, unkind humans, etc. A neutered male will stay closer to home because the urge to breed is gone! ✅

Once they find a female, they most likely have to fight other tom cats for her, resulting in terrible injuries 🤕 and spreading diseases through the deep bite wounds they suffer. 🚫

All of this suffering for males (and the females they are trying to mate with) is 💯% preventable through spay and neuter.

DON’T WAIT until you start seeing kittens in your neighborhood. If you see adult cats, make a plan now! Be a hero now and save them from future suffering.

😼✂️ Ladies and gentleman – now is the chance to heal your broken hearts!

TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) is an extremely important program which helps stabilize the population of outdoor cats and improve their health overall. Our Humane Society of the Treasure Coast is the only shelter in Martin County that provides free TNVR services to free-roaming cats. This Valentine’s season, we are going to give YOU the chance to spay or neuter your ex!

For a $15 donation, we will name a TNVR cat after your ex and then neuter them! We will then post the newly-named cats on Facebook each week in February. This is strictly for fun, so nothing derogatory will be posted. The donations raised will support our programs and services for Martin County’s homeless animals.
